there's this very odd very genuine film starring Kathy Bates and Rupert Everett called Unconditional Love and it's not necessarily "good" but it is lovely and weird. it's about queer love and fannish love and also Julie Andrews shows up at one point
Name your fav film that nobody else knows about

what are your favourite Christmas episodes of tv shows?
December 24, 2025 at 5:01 PM
I love that Star Trek has four small mentions of Christmas over like 1000 episodes and films, and one of them is that Kirk feels awkward about dancing too close with one of his officers at the Science Lab Christmas party

Essential thread
You are painting a vision of a future in which teachers create lessons with "A.i.," students complete them with "A.i.," and teachers grade them with "A.i."

No learning takes place under this system.

The only benefactors of this system are the corporations being paid for the "A.i." products.

It is so funny that the YouTube algorithm just spontaneously created Jigsaw
In Mr Beast’s new video, a woman is alone for two weeks on a platform in the sky. and each day, a balloon is released at an inopportune moment for her. And if she fails to shoot the balloon with an arrow, they take a small portion of the platform that is her home

If Die Hard is a Christmas movie, then other things that are like Die Hard are also Christmas movies

therefore the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Starship Mine is a Christmas movie

If you begin Star Trek: Voyager episode Spirit Folk at exactly 11:49:35 on New Year's Eve, Ensign Harry Kim will kiss a cow as the clock strikes midnight. Join in a very dumb annual tradition and start 2026 off on the right hoof.

at one point the other night, while I was having horrific insomnia, I rolled over and sleepy-alert-exhausted gazed blearily into my computer screen and wrote 200 words on a fanfic I haven't touched in like a year. maybe I'll finish it. It's 90k so far and I'd really like to finish it

got some books from @roomofonesownbooks.bsky.social in the mail! I usually shop at my local indie, which is also great, but I try to buy a few things from Room now and then just because I adore them. I'm looking forward to the Rivers Solomon one especially, as I loved An Unkindness of Ghosts

The BMA has come out swinging for the rights of all trans people in healthcare settings and beyond - both patients and healthcare providers.

Genuinely brilliant news amongst the bad - please read it and share, and remember that we are NOT alone. Not by a long stretch.

I'm gonna be real: many many times when I've watched a sexy TV show and gone "oh wow, this is being surprisingly normal and positive about sex!" I later found out it was a Canadian production.

I have *never* thought that about HBO. If I'm uncomfortable and sad, I check to see if it's HBO.
Heated Rivalry is a Crave production, from Canada. HBO is just a distributor. I really wish people would stop attributing anything in the production of this show to HBO.
Sounds like this set was run how they all should be. HBO once again leading the industry in intimacy directing.
