Mamdani should unironically put Curtis in charge of animal control and let him go wild on a program like elderly folk dog/cat visits
this is the most incredible interview i’ve ever read. the aei guy tries so hard to get sliwa to trash mamdani and he simply won’t. he also brings up flaco (rip) unprompted.

Economies of scale are real. Replacing the current patchwork of standards with a single set of rigorous, science-based rules to protect people's health and safety in new buildings would do a lot to help end the housing shortage.
Prefab would take off if we had uniform building regulations vs a regional hodge-podge which clearly gives the advantage to local specialists. And I mean local specialists like Weyerhauser which sells engineered products nationally through a hodge-podge of regional regs

We have American problems which require American solutions. Some will be trivial, some will require us to remember the great undertakings of our past. We can, we have – we will – do great things. It takes but a leader to arouse the patriotic spirit.
It's striking that progressives like Tim Walz and Zohran Mamdani evoke the middle American attitude that, "Yes, we can fix these social problems because we're Americans and it's the right thing to do!" While the "America first" right only emulates failed and failing nation-states elsewhere.

Finally, Trump's diet! Oh my god. The piece closes with RNC Chair Joe Gruters saying he was "shocked" to witness Trump eat "french fries, a McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburger, a Big Mac and a Filet-O-Fish" in one sitting (5/6)

With historic PE's, remember to keep in mind interest rates too. A 20x market PE and a 4% 10yr is relatively cheaper than a 15x PE and a 6% 10yr.

(Before you come at me, I know this math doesn't work across all cycles. But PE's from the early 80s are just not comparable to PE's during QE.)
BofA: S&P 500 trades rich on almost everything...19 of 20 valuation metrics stretched

The S&P 500 is statistically expensive on 18 of 20 metrics and has never been more expensive on Market Cap to GDP, P/BV, P/OCF and EV/Sales.

They can't even grift competently.

A lot of Blueskiers are going to dismiss this observation because of the source, but it is correct. I'll just add that I don't think there's anything special about single-family homes that means they should never be rentals, any more than there's a rule that multifamily units should never be condos.

Important and thoughtful article worth your time

@gregsargent.bsky.social points out that Trump/Miller overestimated how many Trump voters lacked a conscience and overstepped their cruel pursuit of hard working immigrants
Trump and Stephen Miller are actually failing in crucial ways. Deportations are lagging behind their goals, courts are mostly functioning, and their fascist, ethnonationalist cruelties have unleashed a countermobilization of unexpected scope and power.

New from me:
