In the culture wars, I want to be the bit on Christmas Day where they all knocked it on the head for a bit and played football.
It's finally happened: my photos have been hacked, and I'm being blackmailed. This will have terrible consequences. For the hacker: www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Screenshots of train tickets. Photos of where I parked the car. Selfie of neck. I’m worried I’ll be responsible for boring the internet to death

Straight out of the worst dystopian scenarios.

The wealthiest individual in the world (and likely the one who causes the most harm, between DOGE and X) has succeeded in introducing his revisionist (denying the Holocaust) and anti-Semitic disinformation tool into (El Salvador) classrooms.

Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

So love wobbegongs. Everything is good about the wobbegong. Its name. Its flattened Oscar the Grouch face. Its frondy bits. Its lazy life as a hungry rug. And it’s a shark. Outstanding animal 10/10
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

Guys, guys - look deeper into the whole "Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?" debate. No-one is REALLY talking about Die Hard. Everyone is ACTUALLY talking about themselves. "I am a maverick." "I am a film buff." "I am a traditionalist." "I am Gen Z." "I reject confected debate." It's CUTE.

Unsurprisingly @jim.londoncentric.media of @londoncentric.media (a brilliant substack reporting London which is worth your time and money) has the background on Zipcar. Council fees is a part of the story though not all. TLDR: no centralised transport policy.

Why Zipcar gave up on London
The car-sharing scheme was hit by rapidly increased costs, a new congestion charge, and a lack of support from councils.

In my second year in secondary school, our English teacher devoted so many lessons to (obviously non-syllabus) Masquerade. He was desperate to find it.

When the hare was found, he read a long newspaper report on it to us. I've never heard anyone read something out loud in such a heartbroken manner.
