We could try taxing the rich for a change
The fear of not having enough money is familiar. But there’s a quieter struggle at the top: feeling uncomfortable with having too much, says money psychotherapist Vicky Reynal ⬇️

The wonder of the Discover tab is sometimes you get a post which you just lack the context to understand.

Jordan Davis? Singer? Activist? Athlete? Cat? (Could be a cat. There are lots of cats here.)

(I apologize to OP for this post. If it wasn’t them it woulda been someone else.)
Jordan Davis has been so good this year

Oof, few things more frustrating than the smoke alarm going off at 1:30 am.

I ended up having to disconnect the one that was going off since the one other thing I could think of - vacuuming the sensor - didn’t help; it kept going off.

The Internet Archive is like a person who shot themselves in the foot and is now complaining that they’re having trouble walking.
Internet Archive’s legal fights are over, but its founder mourns what was lost

Starting to wonder if the end result of all this - even if the Repugnicans don’t complete their coup - is that the Democratic Party splits into a moderate party and a liberal party.

That would probably mark the end of liberal influence in the federal government for a generation or two.

Growing up we always muted commercials.

One day, watching TV at a friend’s house, I muted the commercials. Everyone stared at me in horror and someone actually said, “Why would you do that?!” like I just threw paint on their furniture.

So that’s how I learned how propaganda works as a 10 year old.
when I was a kid and ads played on TV my father would outright leave the room until they were done, which when he got lazier he'd just change the channel for 2 minutes to find literally any other one that wasn't in commercial

I found it ridiculous back then but I totally get it now dad

Trump Says U.S. Visas Can Be Denied to Fat People From Now On

New State Department guidance encourages embassies and consulates to deny visas to people with obesity or other health issues.

Eugenics is a Nazi shibboleth:

Hey folks, as news of Watson's demise spreads, please don't set aside his weighty legacy of misogyny and racism. He was truly among the worst of us. www.vox.com/2019/1/15/18...
DNA scientist James Watson has a remarkably long history of sexist, racist public comments
“People say it would be terrible if we made all girls pretty,” he said in 2003. “I think it would be great.”

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

I’m sure the bird-shit-for-brains Republicans think they’re punishing big (and mostly blue) cities, but this will touch anyone who flies on any aircraft which goes through one of those airports.

“Where’s my aircraft?”
“Still waiting for clearance to take off from an airport 3 hours away from you.”

Today in “the Democrats are a broad coalition party and the Republicans are not, and holding together a broad coalition is hard.”
This is pathetic - to give in over "a promised vote" - but this is what they were always going to do.

"A handful of Democrats will supply some eight votes for a new short-term CR in exchange for a promised vote on the ACA tax credits."

They are gonna trust the GOP.🤡

Give me a #StarTrek opinion that will get you disrupted.

Oh dear.

I've been making this argument for over 35 years: Star Trek: The Next Generation was a bad TV series, poorly conceived, poorly executed, with almost nothing to offer beyond some good acting performances.

It has aged poorly, too.
Give me a #StarTrek opinion that will get you disrupted:
