So I've kind of fallen down a rabbit hole of watching straight people react to Heated Rivalry on YouTube. And I'm cynical. I know it's basically clickbait. We've all seen it before. But it does occur to me that the clickbait itself is a little different than from what I remember ten years ago.

Heated Rivalry feels like someone sat through that entire sex scenes in media debate from a while back and went "I'm going to make a show where the sex scenes aren't just important but a completely vital part of the story." Well played.

One thing I do miss from that old place we fled because of the Muskrat fascists is the ability to search a topic and filter by our mutuals. Sometimes I don't care what random people think about a topic, I just want to know what my mutuals think! (If there IS a way to do this please let me know!)

I missed entirely that the Tony and Ziva NCIS show already came out. I'm still kind of bewildered that was even a thing, tbh. It would have made sense some years back, when both had just left the show. But we're a decade past that. Even the overly-invested shippers have had other ships!

I really appreciate it when celebrities are honest about their lifestyle choices. Whenever I get down on myself for my weight, for example, I think about a Jane Seymour interview I'd read a few years back. (She looks amazing still, of course). But she talked about the meals she eats. And well-

The last Christmas Rom-Com of the year for me was the double feature of "Mistletoe Mixup" and "Marry Christmas". A Lawrence brother double feature so bad they couldn't even keep the same female love interest through both of them.

While I don't agree with it necessarily, I do understand the appeal of villainous backstories. But can someone explain to me why Disney keeps choosing the most boring villains to do this for? Maleficent was fine. Who doesn't like dark fairies and Angelina Jolie's cheekbones? But Cruella? Gaston?

For the record, I'm absolutely okay with any Billionaire who wants to be dropped anywhere with five dollars to prove they can make their fortune again. As far as I'm concerned, they can keep whatever they earn. But everything before that five dollars goes to taxes and public works. Let's go.

I can appreciate that the Duel is a well-made movie, but I can't really get past the idea that for the plot to happen at all, the main character pretty much has to be a man. Not just a man, but a very particular type of man. You don't have to start a big dick contest with a tanker truck, dude.

Jingle Bell Heist was surprisingly watchable. Makes me want a Leverage team with these characters. Especially the surprise addition.

I'm not sure if I've said this before, but I think the real error in the sequel trilogy was that they made it the very next generation. I get the idea of wanting to utilize the original talent while it's still possible, but it really bogs down the narrative.

Eh, since I brought it up, I'll dig up my real controversial Star Wars opinion: I didn't think the Rise of Skywalker was THAT bad. I feel like they did the best they could to cobble together a mostly satisfying conclusion to the Saga, while dealing with a lot of obvious outside pressure/decisions.

Ugh, I really dislike when someone utterly deplorable has the same opinion as I do about something fundamentally meaningless. I actually prefer Times New Roman to Calibri too, but now it's like "No! Don't put me on the same side as that asshole! I'd rather lose than have him win!"

Not to excuse Dame Judi Dench's terrible takes on certain sexual predators, but why the fuck are we asking her anything? The woman's 91 years old. We can leave old, retired celebrities alone.

Merry Little Ex-Mas was a horrible movie saved only by the people I watched it with. No knock on the actors, but oh my god. So awful. (Alicia Silverstone looked great though. As did Melissa Joan Hart.)

Apparently, according to that blue sky analysis thing, my most used words are "characters", "character", "fucking", "Scott", "Jean". Which tracks. But sadly, most of my uses of the word "fucking" are in adjective form rather than the verb, I suspect.

Somehow I never realized that Sabrina Carpenter was on Girl Meets World. Somehow I also never realized that the generational spinoff of a show I watched as a kid is now old enough for ITS child stars to have grown up. Time is a cruel and fascinating mistress indeed.

The only caveat I give is, yes the org is hateful but the bell ringers are frequently disadvantaged people. Don't go out of your way to be mean to the bell ringers because they are not the decision makers, and most likely, not even members of the Salvation Army's church.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

It occurs to me that part of why I ended up veering to X-Men and Marvel as opposed to DC is that my particular favorites don't tend to solo adventures, and the group is always fucked up enough, and everyone's an asshole enough to accommodate whatever resurrections you want.

I'm thinking about my kind of garbled statement about why I think Hal's return worked better than Barry's. (Even granting quibbles about characterization.) And I'm trying to see if I can articulate the idea in a clearer way.

I know I've said this before, but if Claremont truly wanted Madelyne to be Scott's happy ending spouse, then she should have looked like anyone but Jean. Because even if the romance was completely okay in every other respect (and honestly, there were other issues...) -

Ok. This is significantly less funny than the “Elon is more athletic than Lebron overall” lie.

Though I guess calling a black athlete a “genetic freak” is pretty blatant.
I haven’t seen this get covered in English yet so let me translate.

I didn't figure out I was non-binary until my thirties, but in retrospect, I think there were signs. It's hard to prove a negative, but I do remember having the assumption that every immortal character (vampire, Highlander, Tolkien elf) would have spent some decades living as the opposite* gender.

If you see this, post a Comics cover you love.

Okay, I don't want to derail a post of actual substance, but that photo of ICE agents holding down that priest is the same kind of striking as the photo of Mangione being escorted down the city streets. It's a very "protagonist in chains" image.
