I don’t understand why none of these lists I’ve seen yet have featured an episode of Andor. The one with the funeral procession on Ferrix broke television for me, it was that good.

Anyway, the fascism we Actually Got is one that co-evolved with the tactics and economy of algorithms, attention, influencers, social media, anon trolling, etc. A successful counter or resistance to that fascism is going to look like a resistance to that attention economy, not a continuation of it.

Watching Coogler’s Black Panther in a sold-out Oakland movie theater filled with Black families. There was EMOTION in that hall. When Killmonger said that line about “bury me in the ocean with my ancestors,” a palpable impact wave went thru the crowd. I felt really honored to be there.

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

If I had UBI? I would still be tattooing because I love it and it’s a vocation not a job. But I’d be able to choose the pieces I’m the most excited for & in my preferred style; I’d be able to do more paintings and personal work; and I’d donate more services and volunteer time to community stuff.
