I'm trying to stave off despair and I think I need to start posting a song daily. I have enough released songs to cover the rest of the year. Let's start with "The Direction We Face," which opens my latest original album IF YOUR RAGE CAN'T BE BEAUTIFUL. unwoman.bandcamp.com/track/the-di...

On a downtown street in Minneapolis, as people stream out from the massive march, Mary Tyler Moore says “fuck ice.”

No twitch stream tonight-- I'm noodling around but not practicing a tight set so don't feel like sharing.

And then there's the video, almost 10 minutes long, of me in underwear, eating leftover ribs, chatting with Ted Naifeh, at 3am at DragonCon 2013 (in our hotel room after the shows and things.) I may need to post this. It's art. @tednaifeh.bsky.social

Going through some old videos and I found one of a house concert 13 year ago, a week after I was sexually assaulted, and there I am, playing the song I wrote about that assault ("The Treacherous Sea") live. I sometimes forget I've been doing strong & brave things occasionally for many years now.

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

The most powerful people in human history have created a giant pit in the sand they can stick their heads in, and spend every day crowing through the megaphones they built that this is the crowning achievement and next stage of human evolution while their thugs murder dissenters.

so much of this enterprise exists so that he and his kind would never hear "no" in their lives and they're destroying it for the simple rationale that they were told "no, you shouldn't destroy the machine that gives you comfort in all things in your life"

we wouldn’t be burnt out at all if we had enough income to work part time and pour more love into our writing instead of struggling to survive. companies and governments have poured billions into shitty AI, which could’ve funded countless writers.
No, authors aren't burnt out because "writing without AI is slow"

We're burnt out because we're paid dirt so we need day jobs to survive

A favorite Bowie covered by a favorite artist. Heaven.
David Bowie is one of my most covered artists. Here's my take on "The Man Who Sold the World" which is on a weird little covers EP called Just Go Away I put out in 2019. unwoman.bandcamp.com/track/the-ma...

Yes!! Be the cyberpunk you want to see.
you just need to romanticize your life as a cyberpunk protagonist. every day i wake up and take stimulants (adderall) and jack into the net to get up to hijinks in cyberspace (get on my computer and post my thoughts every 20-35 minutes)
when you see "we don't have the cool parts of cyberpunk", its about the reality that you're not a typical cyberpunk protagonist

Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives
This is aggravating, because on the one hand I think it's really important to give fascists an off-ramp and positive reinforcement when they use it...

...on the other hand, FUCK that guy, in particular.

The point here is to believe people when they tell you who they are. Gavin Newsom hangs out with Republicans because he likes hanging out with Republicans. This isn't 4-D chess. He wants to hang out with Ben Shapiro and Steve Bannon. When he says he agrees with them on things, it's because he does.
