Trans people in Texas please remember you cannot change your state documents (birth certificate, ID, etc.) right now even with a court order -- and will wind up with your information sent to the AG's office if you try.

Ariyah Jané Albert, Community Counselor at Lavender Rights Project, says it's important to understand that many systems are not made with trans people in mind. “There are some systematic things we should take care of for our safety,” she says.

The fascists are counting on you finding erotica and porn too distasteful to support. Because they always start here. And even if they ended here, sexuality and erotism are integral components of queer expression. You can't support queer creators without supporting 'nsfw' content.

And "accommodation/accessible" does not mean "make the thing easier" and it definitely doesn't mean "make the thing so easy it's meaningless." It means "meet the student's access needs so that they can engage with the material in the same way as their peers, as far as is practicably possible."
We need to be able to see that the line "accommodations have gone too far" is an expression of the ableist notion that disabled students do not belong in higher ed. Its fundamentally an anxiety about the fact that disabled students get an "advantage" over abled students.

Oh god. This is the first I've heard about this lawsuit and...okay, this is going to result in famine. We've busted our asses as a species to create effective preservation methods and taking those away will cause people to starve and poison themselves with spoiled food and botulism from bad storage.
So the outcome of “ultra processed food” lawsuits gonna be banning all preservatives, and food will go stale/moldy/bad super fast -sickening even more people and wasting folks’ money

And meanwhile, polluters will slip their bribes in and we’ll still have pesticide contamination in food

capitalism is cannibalizing its contractual safety nets in order to survive. you cannot regulate and temper capitalism. it is adversarial towards you unless you are wielding it yourself, and even then it will only act in the interest of increasing your capital, not your best interests

This. Norman Borlaug -- who knew a thing or two about food -- said that people who think the world can be fed on organic food are living on Cloud Nine and have lost contact with reality.

When I talk to my students about law and resistance, I talk about how people tend to think in terms of whether they would’ve acted in 1942, but that they should instead ask themselves what they would’ve done in 1933.
“I think we have to be careful with the Nazi comparisons” people are always waiting until we are five minutes until the Holocaust and then they’re like well it’s only ethnic cleansing not a Holocaust
Is this clear enough or are we still doing that whole thing where we pretend it’s about “crime”?

We are not at war with Venezuela, yet. The boats are civilian craft. The U.S. criminal code does not maintain a death penalty for drug smuggling. Due process is required before conviction or sentence.

All of the 80 people killed thus far are wanton murders slain under illegal orders. All of them.

Actually, the likelihood is 100%. In US jurisprudence, accused people are innocent until proven guilty. Hegseth's victims were not proven guilty; they were not even tried. Therefore they were ALL, to the last man, legally innocent. Hegseth ordered the murders of several dozen innocent men.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

Lots of people don't know that the false claim that vaccines cause autism came from a guy who was trying to prevent the MMR because he personally made more money from those three vaccines being separate components.

History of Anti-Vaccination Movements
Though many consider vaccination a top public health achievement of modern medicine, opposition to vaccination dates back to its introduction in the early 1800s.

But then that is the same headline for everything he says.

So yeah, if you're represented by a Republican in a district that was carried by less than 20 points, tomorrow would be a good day to call and demand that the ACA subsidies continue.
The good news is Republicans in Congress are shitting their pants right about now

Imagine being a goy and standing up and telling Jewish people they don’t know or understand their own fucking history. That Jews are ignorant and too uneducated to have correct opinions about the Jewish issue of our time that has broken families and communities. You absolute piece of trash.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

I'm not into that thing where we repost conservative condemnations of fascism as if they have more moral weight--they don't, George Will has been an apologist for reactionary crimes for half a century--but he can do polemic, and this turn of phrase is sharp.
George Will: "Pete Hegseth seems to be a war criminal. Without a war. An interesting achievement. ... The killing of the survivors by this moral slum of an administration should nauseate Americans. A nation incapable of shame is dangerous, not least to itself" www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

4. All I can think of when I hear this phrase now is Elon Musk complaining that he hates chess because it has no fog of war.
Q: So you didn't see any survivors after that first strike?

HEGSETH: I did not personally see survivors. The thing was on fire. This is called the fog of war. This is what you in the press don't understand. You sit in your air conditioned offices and plant fake stories in the Washington Post
