How are we this far in and people don't realize that Trump's superpower and Achilles heel is branding? Epstein is a toxic brand & tying it to Trump is the strongest, most effective strategy yet. Still those who are supposed to "know politics better" than anybody else can't figure that out????

All my random politically unaware friends are making Trump/Epstein jokes. You know what they haven’t said? “I heard Hakeem Jeffries promise to lower the cost of groceries”
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

This is really good to see. This is one of those things where a certain breed of pundit will reflexively assume that it's a "trap" for Dems to stand against calling it the Department of War. People don't like war!
Trump and Hegseth's "Department of War" rebranding is more than just a name. It signals their vision of a force that disdains legality, as if whoever commits the most war crimes wins.

But as new research by @doncasler.bsky.social and @robertralston.bsky.social shows, the change is very unpopular,
Most Americans oppose the ’Department of War’ rebranding
Even 42% of Republicans are no fans of the change.

Trump's illegal murders in the Caribbean just got worse. An internal DOJ memo on the bombings says the victims are waging war on the US, but per NYT, it extensively cites the WH's *own claims* to this effect as evidence!

It gets even darker than that. 1/

In normal times, it would be a major scandal for the President to direct his AG to criminally investigate his political opponents to deflect from his own involvement in a major scandal — and for the AG to immediately announce she is doing it. The Epstein scandal and cover up just got even bigger.

America really is being governed by a cabal of elite pedophiles and uh…. Yeah. Not great.
I just don’t see how we can pretend even for a moment that anything involving our federal government is remotely normal when the president is covering up his involvement in a child sex trafficking ring. Like, what are we doing here

Remember, the controversy over Hillary Clinton's emails wasn't about what was in them.

It was about what COULD have been in them.

And the media helped turn the words "her emails" into a phrase that signaled every misogynistic bit of distrust we have for powerful, smart women seeking promotions.

To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

"A guy" (known child sex trafficker) "emailing a reporter" (at the most important newspaper in the world, about a presidential candidate's ties to himself, a known child sex trafficker) about "old girlfriends" (underage girls they trafficked) is not "a whole news story" (yes it is.)
The emails that you’re seeing now are news in themselves, but that’s because of how they’re coming out—a congressional committee released them—& the context in which they’re being viewed. A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is “dirty” is not a whole news story.

In 2023, Chomsky told WSJ about his relationship with Epstein: “First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.”

YES: Democrats have this horrible habit of not asking for things they can't get. Which means there is no opportunity to ever build expectation that those things should happen.

But Trump is now implicitly implicated in child sex trafficking, either as a client or a trafficker. He should be removed.
Earnest post: there is increasingly direct evidence that Trump participated in child sex trafficking or at least knew about it.

He should resign, be impeached and removed from office, and prosecuted.

Even if you don’t think that WILL happen it’s important to say publicly that it SHOULD happen.

The sheer number of people Trump pardoned — 1,500+ — and the magnitude of violence many (most?) of them committed means it is statistically likely that a fair number will be revidivists, potentially for more egregious crimes. The pardons should be a top story EVERY DAY
Welcome to “justice” in Donald Trump’s America.
