Out: Brat Summer
In: Cale Winter
John Cale has made a record with someone who wasn't even born when he made Songs For Drella, which for most artists would count as a late-career recording, but for him... long may he roll, is what I'm saying.

If there’s a political party I associate with consistency, integrity and honesty, it’s the modern GOP, and 80 y/o Dick Durbin is right to trust them
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

there should be a book about how the hero figure out of the right shifted from a heroic, enterprising capitalist genius who makes stuff to a shameless scam artist who gets rich at the expense of everyone else.

they could call it "Atlas Rugged"

Barack Obama is not making royalties on the ACA, commonly known as Obamacare. The ACA is a federal law, and former presidents or government officials do not receive royalties or any form of direct payment from legislation they sign into law.

Also, President reposted a post from a satirical website.

Admittedly I’m no Rock & Roll Hall of Fame scholar, but this is the only thing I’ve seen from the ceremony that I’ve found genuinely moving
OutKast is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame:

something surprising I learned from the recent @jewishcurrents.bsky.social podcast is that Candace Owens is less nuanced in her antisemitism than Nick Fuentes, which is saying something (also shame on Norman Finkelstein for going on her show and pushing back on almost none of it)
There’s no daylight between what Candace says here about “the Jews” & what Nazi propagandists & Father Coughlin said about the Jews in the 1930s. Her show is one of the top 5 “conservative” podcasts in the US. She has 5.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 7.3 million followers on X.

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

putting aside the “government as a business” misunderstanding, before his career as fuhrer, Trump was widely known as the “King of Debt”
Trump on SNAP: "Our country has to remain very liquid because problems, catastrophes, wars -- it could be anything. We have to remain liquid. We can't give everything away."

I’ve always hated this take:

1) it’s fundamentally a right wing framing
2) it’s effectively crowing about wall st and silicon valley
