It's pretty clear that a major tactic from US tech companies, data centre developers and lobbyists is trying to present data centres as clean tech virtually identical to batteries, solar panels, transmission lines.

That creates a framing where community backlash can be dismissed as hollow NIMBYism

Much like real Bushido, poster's bushido is a post facto romanticization of an earlier era of uncontrolled conflict, constructed by the inhabitants of a more centralized system to justify their own pretensions.

"Every game is someone's first game" is the traditional wisdom but it's less true than it's ever been, and it was barely ever true at all. For most games, if you think you need to sell to that audience, you're probably way over budget already.
And like, re: nag lines, I get it, gamers are dumber have worse attention span than ever but idk man, it's starting to feel like it's time to start gatekeeping. Work for it. Pay attention to the fuckin game you're playing. Of course sales will be lost if we DON'T cater to the lowest denominator but🖕

My hot take about Metroid is that I'm not big into Metroid but I don't think you should ever hear a single human voice or see a single human face during the course of those games unless you 101%'d it, and then you get to see Samus's newest gorgeous visage say "congratulations, gamer" at the camera

Why are you paying your hard-earned money to a service you watch that gives you stuff that **no one made** that is not a big deal and youll just wind up ignoring? 🤔

Absolutely so. #Mexican #SupremeCourt got that; switched the listening to trans kids who know themselves, they provide legal support to trans kids formally identifying themselves as they undoubtedly know themselves to be. Uplifting clarity & pragmatic belief to let kids thrive in their own skin.

Random person who plays indie games, you are the most important cog in an indie game's success.

Most gamers don't know or care that indies exist.... unless a friend tells them.

Our games succeed because you tell other people you liked our game. Word of mouth is the best marketing there is.

Reminder that this is a man who worked on 128 episodes of a very popular TV series, and he's got to sell off all of his shit just to afford cancer treatment.

SO, HOW IS THE AVERAGE PERSON SUPPOSED TO?

Honestly it's a good thing for me this is UK only or I'd be giving this nice person so much money but if you're in the UK and need artifact replicas here you go!
Hello folks. I've been making plaster of paris artefacts/decorations for friends.

I'm opening it up here now - all items incl. postage (UK only, sadly) & gift packaging. I can send things within a week, usually faster.

Anyway, if there's anything you fancy, message/email me! 😊

The weirdest thing about this discourse is that states with shorter school closures have the same amount of learning loss! I keep waiting for all the punditry on this to catch up with basic facts
Every time Covid and learning loss hits the news, people act like the only factor is folk staying home and learning online, rather than… Living through a global mass death event.

My kingdom for a journalist braver than the troops who will chase this thing down, starting with dialing up William Jefferson Clinton to ask him about a blow job.
The important thing is not whether the Trump performing sexual favors for Bill Clinton thing is true. The important thing is that we all pretend it’s true, and that someone asks Trump about it every day.
