Clean energy - particularly manufacturing.
I think people believe this kind of cynical take is brave or makes them look smart. I think it’s the opposite. More importantly, it’s disempowering. Demand consequences. Send the video to candidates and demand they commit to finding and punishing these criminals or you will support their opponents.

It's not pretext. It's a lie. "Radar interference" has been studied for decades. It's very well characterized. DoD had already signed off on these projects.
This is pretext. Trump’s been obsessed w/wind turbines for decades, which began after Scotland put some in near his golf course. He sued the govt & lost, which is why he claims they cause cancer, mental illness in whales, bird extinctions, etc. Welcome to the 19th century. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Burgum: "Today we're sending notifications to the 5 large offshore wind projects that are under construction that their leases will be suspended due to national security concerns ... the Dept of War has come back conclusively that these large offshore wind programs create radar interference"

48. That exception of course is the fossil fuel producer. They are hostile to energy productivity for the same reason John Henry didn't like the steam shovel. They can't compete with it. Wins for consumers come at their expense. Wins for the climate come at their expense.

This is such a great grift. Pretending to care about this by pretending Ds have ever or would ever do the equivalent of preserves their false “both sides do it” narrative while getting covered as if he’s breaking from his party. Same BS playbook they’ve been running for decades.

We are not at war with one another. We can’t lose sight of that. Sometimes, silence is betrayal. See something, say something.

I genuinely don't know if this is a "Minnesotan" thing or an "old guy of a certain age" thing but in case it's Minnesotan and people need an anger translator: this guy is so angry he could just about set something on fire with his mind.

No one hates working Americans more than billionaires. Your worst enemy does not spend nearly as much time trying to ruin your life as the billionaires in charge of the country. The only difference is the billionaire won't even bother to learn who you are before investing in ruining you.
BILL BURR: “If someone’s working 160 hours a month and can’t make their rent, you’re not paying them enough. Maybe you should just be worth $900,000,000… How does a CEO take a f*cking 8 figure bonus and none of your employees have dental insurance?”

Trade Wars are Class Wars is a wonderful book and is quite short. IMO it’s been the best way he’s been able to fully articulate his views re: capital flows. Shout out of course to the co-author Matthew Klein.

Just want to point out the small point that it is not only illegal to solicit bribes, but to OFFER them as well. Companies are buying themselves liability.
a house held by the democratic party may not be able to legally order people to go to prison, but they can sure run wall to wall hearings every day of 2027 demonstrating why these people *should* go to prison

I get the point. What she did was an abuse of power and certainly something that should have professional consequences for her. What I still don't understand is how it was at all prejudicial to the defendant that she was sleeping with a subordinate. How did that change anything in the case?
Fani Willis is an excellent illustration of the concept that MOST Americans are super-deferential to prosecutors to the point of ignoring their bad behavior, so long as the prosecutors are going after someone the Americans in question don’t like.

Something I think people need to get through their heads is that the filibuster is a rhetorical tool, not an obstacle to legislation. When legislation is blocked by the filibuster, it just means the party in power is letting its sin-eaters do the work.
this is why ending the filibuster is good
“if you elect Republicans they will actually pass and implement Republican legislation” is a sentence that should be banal but everyone smart understands is an extinction-level scenario for the party as it currently exists

The foundational truth of America is that "all of us are created equal." That's why we can't have kings.
Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"

As a DC resident with military people wandering around, I say a few things. 1) It's extremely economically damaging (the actual point, I believe) as people don't go out nearly as much. 2) Obviously, crime is going to drop, as no one is out. #2 is not worth #1 anywhere. That's why we don't do this.

we absolutely need more democrats coming out hard against scams and grifting.
oh another thing is is Democrats adopt a strong anti-scam platform, good chance it negatively polarizes republicans into being actively pro-scam out of sheer negative polarization

OMG, yes! Why is it so hard for journalists to process that all spending is not the same? There are no "fiscal hawks." They are just people who don't like the things/people Democrats invest in (workers, students, middle class). Not a peep from that crowd about trillions in tax cuts for the rich.
If I use my credit card to send a bunch of money to people who need mutual aid, that's a good use of debt.

If I use it to buy a bunch of guns to go on a murder spree, that's a bad use of debt.

The problem with Trump's bill isn't that it adds to the debt. It's what it spends that money on.
