For a college project I am trying to find mainstream representations of M.E in fiction, does anyone have suggestions? Preferably in film/TV but anything fictional really. I've only found 3 so far, an episode of The Golden Girls, Flying Doctors, and Absolutely Fabulous...

Language matters. Asylum seekers live in appalling conditions but the buildings are described as "hotels". Members of the Royal family live a life of luxury and privilege but their homes are often called "cottage" or "lodge". Why not just describe things accurately?

"Starter homes" only exist if you view houses as financial investments and nothing else

To everyone else they are just "homes"

There's no polite way to say this - if you still think Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are capable of solving the housing crisis, you're a fucking moron.
90 seconds spent answering the question "what is a starter home" without once getting near answering what a starter home might actually be.

"Starter homes are absolutely crucial"
"People just want to get into their starter home"
"It's about having that right starter home"

I hate when YouTube ads spend the first few seconds trying to get you to not skip the full ad when they should be selling their product in those few seconds. All Vine stars should have been picked up by marketing and advertising agencies

Hello it's me the leader of the party full of landlords that has been in power your whole adult life and created the housing crisis we now refuse to resolve.

I'm here to tell you it's actually the foreigners' fault.

A shockingly well-developed plan to disrupt and destroy facilities. Right-wing terrorists are terrorists. From demos outside the Dáil with a guillotine, to terrorising library staff, to vigilantes on the streets beating people, to pipe bombs. It’s an escalation and FFG need to take it seriously.
Some of us have been crying out about a campaign of far-right terror for years.

Now we have this:

Thank you @carlkinsella.bsky.social

Unfortunately Carl is right, until FF & FG actually consider thousands of homeless kids a crisis which effects them & thier voter base, they won't act.

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

This is a terrible move. Standards in RTÉ are in audible decline. This is an essential public service not a for profit enterprise, something made all the more vital in an age of rampant disinformation. Short sighted, shallow thinking.

"However, Catherine Connolly’s historically successful campaign has certainly proved something about Ireland in 2025. The left can win in Ireland, and we may, at last, not be quite so centrist as those in the centre would like to believe."

Yussss
“If this was, as Harris framed it, a referendum on Ireland’s proud history of better-things-aren’t-possible centrism, then surely he must accept that his conceptualisation of Ireland is actually… wrong.”

This week’s column is about how FG and FF have responded to the election results.
Surrealing in the Years: Sorry Simon, maybe Ireland doesn't want to be a 'centrist' country

Every far-right riot and protest that was tolerated, every racist dog whistle from public reps, every bit of hate and misinformation allowed to spread by social media companies, all led to this moment in Drogheda last night where someone felt emboldened enough to try to burn children alive.

If establishment parties think pivoting to violent racists will earn them votes, they need to reflect on whether they'd feel comfortable delivering this news to the baying mobs in person. Roll on up to the next riot and see how they receive a politician in their midst. Fucking clowns. #spéirgorm

Israel is bombing tents again with F35 jets.

They commit genocide with impunity.

There was no ceasefire, they broke it every single day.

They must be held to account.

Speak up. Take action.

As is always the way with these wankers Aontu didn't sack him for being a racist piece of shit, they sacked him for getting caught.
“Aontú has sacked the leader of its youth wing and dismissed five other members after it learnt of the existence of secret WhatsApp groups where some Ógra Aontú members posted racist and antisemitic comments.”

Be warned, the messages detailed in this article are absolutely vile.

This is bull.

Steen has done no public service and had ample time to prepare a campaign if she was actually bothered.

Sheridan wasn't bothered to have documents right for LA meetings.

Who else came close to actually trying to get on the ballot?

Far-right twats who wanted the free publicity?
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Oireachtas may have to look at changing the process by which a person gets on the ballot in presidential elections, which he described as "restrictive".

So much talk about spoiled votes, but virtually zero about the 900,000+ Irish citizens who voted for Connolly and the 15,000 volunteers who campaigned for her - nothing about what they want and represent and hope for.
No, Irish media and politics insist you engage with those who can't be bothered.
