That’s an Andrew Friedman bat-signal if I ever saw one.

When Miguel Rojas hit his game-tying home run, it was the ninth-most impactful play in MLB history. It is now the eleventh-most impactful play in MLB history.

Pretty good 368-day run.
“The Shohei game”
- “which one?”

“The Freddie Freeman game”
- “which one?”

“The 18-inning game 3 of the World Series that ended with a walk-off home run”
- “which one?”

Man, we’re spoiled

It was 19 yesterday morning (and it probably still is, really). But Delta rerouted my return flight from Maui through Honolulu so now it’s kind of 20?

The Jays are absolutely blowing a 4-1 lead tonight.
Dude I love the Leafs more than anybody but we need to tear that jersey off of him, kick him outside and make him re-enter the building right now.
A wild choice from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as he arrives at the Rogers Centre in a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey.

Clearly some thinking behind it — but not exactly the Game 7 history you want to be replicating tonight.

Just four hours away now.

When I first moved to LA, one of the things I did was look up the filming locations. Turns out I live half a mile from Arthur Digby Sellers house.

The basic cable edit is the best. “Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?”
Flipped to The Big Lebowski on Showtime at just the moment that John Goodman unctuously said "Pilar?" to kick off the Larry Is This Your Homework scene. Auspicious. Big week coming.

It’s also true that no salary floor will actually force cheap owners to field a competitive team. 15 minutes of reading about the Phoenix Coyotes will make that clear. Cheap owners will always find ways for accounting to say they “got to the floor” without the actual cash expense.
the reality is that wherever you draw the line, the owners will find a way to hide revenue just on the other side. we know this because they've done it repeatedly. the one time they opened their books was a disaster for them.

If the Dodgers win, they need to be capped. If the Brewers win, they're the reason owners point to when they don't spend. Reality is on-field results aren't a big part of the equation for most owners, and *that* is the bigger picture problem.

The fun thing about stats like this is that if all games are just 50/50 coin flips (regardless of home/road), we would expect five comebacks from down 0-2 out of 29.

Four is not so different to make me think all games aren’t just 50/50.
29 MLB teams have won the first 2 games of a best-of-7 series on the road

Only 4 comebacks:

1985 WS Royals beat Cardinals
1986 WS Mets beat Red Sox
1996 WS Yankees beat Braves

2020 NLCS Dodgers beat Braves at a neutral site as the designated home team, so do whatever you want with that one

These graphics are apparently not batter height adjusted which raises the question: why draw a box in the first place when the box is meaningless?
