It’s wild because I was always like “I wish the president would talk like a real person” and now the president talks like my racist father in law and I’m like “not that regular person”

A trainer at the gym told me that one of his clients in tech (very Seattle story) was frantically asking him what AI might be good for at the gym. Real “We have to make this thing happen, what is it for???” vibes.

And just to add to Dave’s point, the unwillingness of social media to sort knowledgeable/reputable videos from the slop means we have a lot of people who think podcast mic + webcam = Tom Brokaw on the Berlin Wall.
Honestly, the NYT has been good at this, putting reporters on camera to explain their stories.

We've evolved to trust friendly faces telling us things directly, more than we trust print. Slop peddlers exploit this to yammer/read headlines. Reporters can/must elbow them out of the way.
I've definitely been thinking a while about how I could approach making TikToks (bc as much as I hate it, I know I could reach a lot of people there), YouTube videos, Instagram, etc., sharing the kind of information and ideas I do here.

The holdup is — how to do it without it being overwhelming?

We are watching Meet Me in St Louis because apparently it’s a Christmas movie (no evidence of that yet). A child just tried to derail a trolley as a prank and Judy Garland said “you could have killed dozens of people” and then everyone laughed. I am losing my mind

Ms. Rachel is an absolute hero. She’s gotten so much abuse for her extremely compassionate, humane - and in my opinion, common sense - views on children being hurt and killed in Gaza. But she’s not letting that silence her. Bless you Ms. R.

The file against Jimmy Fallon grows and grows. Just kick him off the Tonight Show and throw the goddamn thing over to Seth Meyers!
FALLON: “And do you use ChatGPT when raising your baby?"

ALTMAN: "I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT."

This is another thing about AI slop: much like an algorithm, it flattens all content into a default global content. Any type of regional or ethnic distinction is removed to reach as many people as generally as possible, with no concern for audience in mind. Like a Mr. Beast video.
AI can't even get the Netherlands correct.
Those are not Dutch looking people.
Those are not Dutch looking houses.
Those are not Dutch christmas traditions.
The netherlands hasn't had that much snow in a decade.

These assholes are so tech pilled they might aswell show a graphics card up their ass.
