Every great adventure in a TTRPG, no matter which system, should include at least one (if not more than one) element that needs to be solved without using the character sheet. Puzzles, Role Playing encounters, hard choices - players feel more satisfied when it is more than dice that wins the day.
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

I was reflecting recently on how the enshittification era means that streamers’ main accomplishment as a sector has been to drive people towards physical media; social media has made itself almost completely non-social; etc etc
I'm listening to a lot of end-of-year wrapup stuff from artists I support and it's striking how much rollback there is - the favorite/best stuff of 2025 they are talking about is like... rediscovering radio. Getting DVDs from the library to avoid bullshit streaming licensing issues. Indie games.

The way we need to market this shit is to do what conservatives did for the past 30 years and write books like “The ten forbidden truths you’re not allowed to say on politically correct tv” and then it’s just cities are mostly fine and it’s good to get a flu shot
A remarkable trend that will come as a shock to you if your only info about NYC is from this Fox News.

Homicides in NYC...
1990: 2,262
1993: 1,927
1998: 629
2001: 649
2013: 335
2019: 320
2021: 488
2024: 382

As I said recently in The Guardian:

"Despite their hopes to the contrary, anti-trans campaigners have not won the hearts and minds they believed the Supreme Court would give them"

So they turn to this; desperate, fascistic calls for the destruction of those they hate (framed as ideas, not people).

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Again: Inattention is surrender. So don't surrender.

Only 41% of the agreed-upon trucks are entering Gaza (Government Media Office, December 22) and 80% are commercial (ICRC, December 19). There's no aid. Give. Act.

I understand that YouTube is the dominant cultural delivery method of our age but i genuinely don’t understand it. I don’t want video of my audio entertainment. I listen while I’m doing other things. I don’t even know what the use case would be for me.

The bar for any podcast that isn’t Unedited 1-2 People Chatting* is also unfeasible. You want me to turn my narrative nonfiction show into a filmed doc? My fiction into a literal tv series? A reminder again to work in whatever fucking medium you want to

*also a perfectly good form
2010: we are pivoting to video, learn to use this flip cam and develop your Personal Brand

2016: why isn’t this working

2019: we have made a terrible mistake

2026: we are pivoting to video
will also add - yes, this is my personal crusade - that turning podcasts into videos implicitly asks women to once again make more effort than men, as the bar for "camera-ready" for one gender is obviously higher than for the other

Pretty much all questions that were asked at the inauguration of the NHS, they didn't prove particularly difficult to resolve despite the aftermath of the Blitz, massive shortages of labour and building materials, huge government debt
How much are you going to pay doctors?

Which current hospitals get shut down ?

What happens if doctors opt out of the system ? Who is going to invest in new curative therapies. You ?

How much in taxes pr year do you think it's possible to collect if you took every penny from billionaires?
Half the amount that everyone currently pays could provide universal healthcare. Private health companies don’t need to exist. Eliminate them. And use your collective buying power and economies of scale to get it done. Every cent of their profit is healthcare denied.
