Hello, new followers! Something must have jumped up and bit y'all because it's popping off in here.

I don't post a bunch, and when I do, it's as likely to be about something silly as it is about resisting fascism. So that's what to expect.
I think our house has a presence of some kind. Besides us, I mean. But I will not call it the g word, and while I do not address it directly, I make statements out loud about how I don't have the time or energy to engage with interdimensional stuff so no thanks.
do you believe in ghosts or are you like me, a person who finds themself saying all the time “I absolutely don’t believe in ghosts, but this place has ghosts.”

Last Thanksgiving, two Dallas Police officers knocked on my door, citing a tip from the FBI national threat operations center that I was beating my girlfriend. The incident report confirms this. Today, I obtained a file from the FBI via FOIA that states the FBI has no record of receiving such a tip.

Sometimes I feel bad about working in corporate comms because I couldn't freelance after my divorce.

Other days I just enjoy how unmessy my life is.
I love mess but man this whole thing underlines how much it sucks that all the worst journalists somehow end up with flashy high-paying media jobs

The two biggest strategic reasons to invest in red state Dems IMO are:

1. You've got to build a firewall and red states are the laboratories for democracy destroying ideas.

2. Those red state Dems know how to fight the GOP far better than most, bc they grew up doing it on every political level.

Hey so.

Lots of people reading your hot takes on Bubba are gay or bi. There are lots of jokes to be made--Clinton is RIGHT THERE--but if the best you've got is 101 basic bitch homophobia, got some bad news for you about you.

Idk but I get routine MRIs because of my breast cancer risk (my oncologist alternates it with my mammogram), and it is abundantly clear which part of my body is being imaged by the way they put me topless and facedown with my boobs dangling and a hard piece of plastic pressing into my solar plexus.
Love 2 go to the doctor and not know what body part they’re analyzing

I worry about weirding out my kid as the trans ally equivalent of a booster club mom (GO DOLLS!), but people wear sweatshirts, put out yard signs, and drink coffee from mugs with sports team logos to loudly show support for *that*. Why do friends and family get less?
I know some people get weirded out by the earnestness of queer allies, but I love every cis/straight person loudly showing their support for their LGBTQIA friends, families and random strangers.

Demonstrating to others their acceptance and love is an important art of normalising our existence too.

I'm "supposed" to be on HRT so I can remain womanly for the sake of my marriage, but I am not on HRT.

My daughter is not "supposed" to be on HRT for the sake of her own well-being, but she is on HRT.

We are ungovernable. That's the problem for these folks.
for those puzzling out why an administration hostile to HRT for transition is super pro HRT for menopause, their claims that menopause ruins women and marriages seems pretty key
No, menopause does not kill women or cause divorce.

Yet I was led to believe that protestors at an abortion clinic have the right to stand just outside the private property line and pray at people.
“During the call, the anonymous representative told a group of faith leaders and activists that ‘There is no more prayer in front of building or inside the building because this is the state and it’s not [of a] religious background.’”

These cowards can’t even talk to clergy face-to-face.

In a possible violation of the First Amendment, federal officials instructed demonstrators to stop holding religious gatherings outside the immigration processing facility in suburban Broadview after ...

Do you have one (1) pepper and some olive oil? Bell, poblano, doesn't matter: you have a sauce. Roast your pepper, let it cool, peel it. Blend it with your olive oil. Add a sprink of salt. Put that shit on everything. Feel fancy.
IT IS TIME FOR BLUESKY RECIPE POSTING

do you have a cheap, healthy, low-cost recipe? post it here! or quote tweet this post. or dunk on me for something I don't care just post easy meals that people can make right now.

I have been screeching about Wilks and Dunn for years, whenever people ask me (perfectly sensible) questions like, "Marrit, why is Texas so fucked?" It's these guys. Years, I tell you.
you think about the scale of the Wilkes and Dunn empire and you just kind of go blank at the way they have their hands in everything www.nytimes.com/2024/10/02/m...

ONE KING
Amid the ruins of The Blitz, HG Wells once visited George Orwell and his wife Eileen for dinner and ate so many servings of chicken curry that he had to be hospitalised.

I feel that some of you need regular reminders of how unpopular this man is. And frankly I see him getting even more so as the economy worsens. Again, this doesn't mean that he will give up any power but it does mean that WE HAVE POWER TOO.

Just to say: I have menstruated for 42 years,* sometimes in public and with the heaviness of perimenopause, and I have no issue sharing public bathrooms with trans women.

I don't look at anyone's hands at the sink because if you are washing, that's good enough for me.
