I will be honest: for a brief moment, I genuinely thought that this was me and that I had had an 'episode'...
An interesting week in pop culture! Checked out the @2000ad.bsky.social podcast (or is that "Thrill-cast"?) because they talked about pro wrestling, then ended up enjoying a bunch of their episodes only to realise @molcher.bsky.social of course wrote this brilliant book I've been reading for while!

I helped make a film, out this week, called “Rovina’s Choice,” about the deaths this man without conscience or accountability has caused — already 600,000, ⅔ of them children.

The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

A Royalist Victory In The Far North ⚔️
The tide of war was turning against the Royalists in 1645. But while King Charles’s forces struggled in England, the Marquis of Montrose was keeping his cause alive in Scotland, winning a victory on the 9th May 1645 at the Battle of Auldern.

Because we’re a few steps behind, living through the “getting to that point” right now in the UK.

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.
I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.
But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

I know social media works on outrage, but this backfired and earned them a block: a video of two smug media personalities having a chuckle at Mamdani's victory speech, that they were expecting it to be more "gracious" and claiming "this is like Trump" because politicians now "say what they think".

So terrified and jaded (and complicit) that can't even muster the bare minimum about someone with whom they should actually share common cause.

A great day for the golden rule of political analysis: when the right wins it is a resounding ideological victory that humiliates the left and when the left wins it is a precarious fluke that will surely end up humiliating the left. Conservatives are power’s landlords and the left merely tenants
