A book about a 'haunting' that is played with such a straight bat that it almost drains it of a narrative, 6/10

There's *always* an episode of Judge Dredd...

Befitting the horror theme of the performance, the interval is now running over twice as long as promised 😬

So terrified and jaded (and complicit) that can't even muster the bare minimum about someone with whom they should actually share common cause.

JHC, BBC News. This needs to be at the top of your front page four years away from an election, does it?

I mean, by this point the "we're all trying to find the guy who did this" meme is practically transparent from overuse...

This is genuinely getting too much.

And, of course, it includes the heroic death of The Torso From Newcastle, who deserved better than this...

As a kid, I used to stare at this line-up of Johnny Alpha's old mutant rebellion comrades for hours.

Printers' copy of the next Strontium Dog volume arrived and, by snek, it's gold from end to end – 'Outlaw' was the first SD I ever read and it's still brilliant. Alan and Carlos at the height of their powers.

This has been an on-going project for over half-century now: using the fear of 'crime' as a means to entrench colonial power through "law and order" politics

(I may have written a book about exactly this... 2000ad.com/news/i-am-th...)

Waking up to a panicking bigot trying to do the bare minimum.

I know I have to be patient, I know you have to work at a skill over time. But the way any success at breadmaking seems to apparently rely on some kind of quantum mechanics and/or the appeasement of ancient, arcane gods can be really very frustrating.

Huge congratulations to @emmavieceli.bsky.social for the opening night of her brand new musical, Unfolding, in Cambridge. It's fantastic!

(holy hell, I know someone who wrote a musical!!!)

I know it's just a thing, but I've used this MacBook for almost a quarter of my life and, as I decommission it, I'm struck by how much it's helped me to work & pursue my hobbies, to create, to communicate. It got me through lockdowns. I wrote my book on it.

A thing. A tool. But a damn useful one.

Finally upgraded to a new Mac after 12 years. Time Machine transfer started at 1pm yesterday, was saying 17 hours when I went to bed at 2am, just come down to this. Might get to use my new laptop some time next week at this rate!
