OK. Here's the thing. You just can't put on a jacket and pretend to be a security patrol in the UK. It's actually illegal. Who the actual F are these "Essex Spartans"? Government has laws and rules and they need to enforce them.

Looking forward to seeing all the far right activists who put up poppies on street lights out taking them down tomorrow, as it was all for Remembrance Day and nothing else after all

I saw something earlier about this but what the US far right sadly appear to be succeeding at doing is radically polarising the UK Right via X, such that what they say and do now is completely and totally disconnected from where the rest of the country are

Fundamentally unpatriotic. Wonder what Thatcher would've thought
Conservative Shadow Culture Secretary Nigel Huddleston tells GB News that the BBC should "grovel" to Trump.
Amazing how many British 'patriots' are spending their time telling our national broadcaster to prostrate itself before a hostile foreign leader

It remains frustrating that so many British moderates are rotted by GCism to the point that they can clearly recognise a far-right agenda but neatly carve out an exception for the transphobia that's integral to that agenda—as if it's a stopped clock situation—without a moment's self-reflection
I came across a clip from yesterday from LBC of John Sopel and Emily Maitlis talking to Shelagh Fogarty about what's happening at the BBC and they all conceded the complainant DID have a point about the BBC's pro-trans bias and it was just three people being transphobic for a couple of minutes.

BBC staff need to walk out if this doesn't stop
It’s already started - the BBC allows Newsmax boss to opine about bias, suggest some of the Jan 6 mob were merely innocent tourists visiting Congress, without pushback

One of the most useful things I've learnt since leaving Twitter is the benefit of blocking anyone being hostile on sight and never thinking about them again

A brilliant example of what Lewis Goodall talks about when he argues why right-wing radicals keep winning. They don't play by the rules and simply don't care. Whereas the institutions they want to destroy do even when said rules are contorted to absurdity and are blatantly being used against them.
The founder of Newsmax was just on the Today programme pontificating about bias. Boy, the BBC loves to submit itself to flagellation.

Black and Asian staff left feeling ‘deliberately intimidated’, according to chief executive of one NHS trust
NHS staff who care for patients in their own homes fear some areas have become “no-go zones” for them because of the presence of St George’s flags, health leaders have said.
Black and Asian staff have been left feeling “deliberately intimidated” as a result of the flags that were put up in many parts of England during the summer, according to the chief executive of one NHS trust in England, who asked to remain anonymous. Continue reading...

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

Starmer at this moment has the best—possibly his only—opportunity to save himself by doing a Carney and telling Trump to fuck off. The country will love it. Trump will have to begrudgingly respect it. He's probably too cowardly to do it. But I live in hope of being surprised

There is a new "Listen to this page" link on the menu in Chrome for Android that you would think reads you the text of the page. You know, something useful. No. It generates a bullshit AI summary in the form of a fake podcast between two fake people who pretend to talk to each other

I don't often call for resignations. But Sir Robbie Gibb's role in the BBC boardroom coup makes his continued role there untenable. He must resign or be removed
‘Gibb’s supporters say he is trying to save the BBC from itself; he was also heard last year to say that if he didn’t get his way, he would “blow the place up”.’
“a group of politically-appointed directors has forced the hand of Samir Shah, the chair, and the departure of the two most senior people in the organisation. Their resignations should be called out for what they are: political interference..”1/

Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.

This entire thing is *bullshit*. What are we even doing here
I do like how, in the bit of Prescott's memo where he criticises the BBC for editing together different parts of Trump's speech, his own quote of "what Trump actually said" is... edited together from different parts of his speech.
