Last fall, I was tired of hearing that support for bikes came from a narrow minority of Berkeley, so I commissioned a poll to ask how broad support is here. The answer is that the vast majority of the city, 73%—and even a majority of people who do not bike—support adding more bike infrastructure.
This rules. Get building.
SFBABC just published a 40-pager on how we crank out 10 guerilla bus stop benches in a weekend. I’m proud to have helped write, edit, and photograph this alongside @carterlavin.bsky.social, @mingweisamuel.bsky.social, & others. Get the doc sfbabc.org/join or read my post:

That’s it. We’re neighbors looking out for our neighbors. We do it when we shovel each other’s walks and push each other out of snowdrifts and we do it when there are snatch squads roaming the streets. It runs deep in Minneapolis: we all have to band together to survive the winters.
Many Americans are terrible neighbors to each other, and that is why MN is striking everyone as extraordinary activism... when they are telling us that it is not. They're good neighbors!

It's no wonder that "being a shitty neighbor" is the hallmark of our domestic politics and our foreign policy.

Laura has been posting moving and heartbreaking stories from the occupation of Minneapolis. I recommend reading through them.
This is Minneapolis:

Tonight I learned of several families at my kids’ school who have had family members abducted during this federal invasion.

Hearing the specifics made me want to scream and cry and punch something and throw up.

Secretary Noem must resign or be removed from office. I support congressional action, including the impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, to ensure accountability and justice.

I may have missed recent coverage of third-country deportation deals made by the Trump administration, but other than @propublica.org what other US press outlets are tracking these deals closely? Why is this not a national, frequent conversation? (Gift link to a NYT report from June.)

If another person on here does the “don’t get mad at the center-left, be mad at the right” thing to me, I’m going to scream. Democratic leadership is abetting the right, how are we not seeing this. They are insulting us to our face.
Q: Is it your posture to put restrictions on ICE as a condition for funding DHS?

JEFFRIES: Renee Good should be alive. There was no justification. There are common sense measures that need to put in place so ICE can conduct itself in manner at least consistent w/ every other law enforcement agency

It’s important to think of this—and speak about it with elected officials—as a one-way ratchet. If the illegal behavior is not shut down, it will continue and worsen. ICE funding is in front of the Senate this month, and failing to stop this behavior is the same thing as asking for more and worse.
Credible reports given multiple videos that ICE (or CBP?) in Minneapolis is going door to door, breaching doors when residents will not open, and searching homes with no warrant or even statement of a particularized suspicion, and trying to prevent residents from recording. Flagrantly illegal
A video of ICE agents conducting door-to-door searches today in Minneapolis

The homeowner requests a warrant repeatedly, is told they don't require one, then is told they're getting it, then the agents storm in anyway

They also point a taser at her to try and disrupt filming

This is an excellent rhetorical strategy against the right.

Don’t argue details and interpretation with them. They want you to do that so they can muddy the waters and sow doubts. Just say, “ICE murdering mothers is the world they want. We want something better.”
Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

This @mmasnick.bsky.social piece is exactly on the money. Schumer should step aside and let someone willing to fight take over as minority leader. He seems to be thinking Watergate or McCarthy are the models—that "Have you no sense of decency, sir?" will cause the fever to break. He's wrong.
Wrote up my thoughts on all the nonsense replies I've been getting falsely claiming that @schumer.senate.gov can't do anything and I should stop telling him to do more.

There's a TON that he can do, as I outline in the piece. And he's doing basically none of it.
