Not sure if it's a "my dad" thing or "all Irish dads" thing but the man cannot envisage a meal without spuds. I made an entire lasagna once and found him panic-mashing a bowl of Kerr's Pinks in the corner

We had a first date scheduled, but he called me two days before and wanted to go out for a drink (we never had any chill) so we went to a local coffee/game place and played Scrabble.

His mother once told me I was the first person to beat him at Scrabble so that's how she knew I was the one.

Here is what I sent to Ted Cruz. Will send to Cornyn shortly.

SUBJECT:SAVE Act

While I already know that you agree with its goals to disenfranchise certain voters, I'm sure you must be able to see that many of your own party's voters will be among those whose ability to vote will be impacted 1/
JFC I've heard that Fetterman is considering supporting the SAVE act. It's a disaster of a bill that would create sweeping disenfranchisement.

Whoever your senators are, I don't care, call them. I don't wanna hear if you think they definitely will or won't support this, take 3 minutes & call.

been getting a lot of questions about this. some quick answers:
—I am IN FAVOR of the current borders of Europe's nation-states
—I bear ABSOLUTELY NO ALLEGIANCE to Kaiser Wilhelm or the Emperor of Austria-Hungary
—I have NO plans to assassinate ANY archdukes
Hope this clears things up
I need to be clear that I am NOT!

This seems as good an excuse as any for a short thread introducing people to some single moths I've found in my area, looking for fun.

1. Here, for starters, is a Canary-Shouldered Thorn Moth (I didn't make this up).

Inspired by a delightful back-and-forth on here recently between @robertloerzel.bsky.social & @ladytophamcatt.bsky.social sharing photos of the Chicago Municipal Device, I thought it’d be fun to write about what the hell it even is and why you can spot it all over town once you look for it
