Friends, I know I haven't been here in ages, but I wanted to update my old cat twitter friends on some important news.
Tomorrow (September 25, 2025), Freja will be going to her final vet appointment. Her kidneys have finally failed, and it's causing her other organs to fail too.

Periodic reminder that over 90% of cats are not a "breed". The vast majority of longhaired tabbies are not Maine Coons. Most grey cats are not Russian Blues. Most black cats are not Bombays. They're just lovely, perfect mixed breed cats that come in all colors and coat lengths!

So, I was checking my kitten cam and saw one of the black kittens loafing on the leaf of the cat tree, and two others were zooming. I was like “aw Scoots is running so fast!” Then I realized… it was SCOOTER on the tree! How the heck did he get up there!? Well, apparently we are climbing now.

Another wonderful little bird is the Slate-headed Tody-Flycatcher. You hear their chirps often, but they are so, so hard to see. A pair has a nest at @tapirvalley.bsky.social and I've been able to get some shots of them delivering food to the nestlings.

I'm increasingly mad at the casual usage of ChatGPT with seemingly no regard for the ethical, environmental, and educational impacts.
