Sometimes sports journo, sometimes comms pro, always a maker. Love Chicago. Probably making a Taskmaster or Murder, She Wrote joke. I won't answer any questions you can Google. I'm here for conversation, not debate. I mute whining about officials.

Hey so I wrote a book! It's a middle-grade book on Angel Reese. It's a book specifically written for libraries and schools, so I will not be hurt if you don't buy it. But your kid may want to check it out at the library!

I love the Winter Olympics. Nonstop "why the hell would you do that" and "how do you even find OUT you can do that" and curling

Our country is revealing itself to be a cruel place and lots of us are on edge, but it’s important not to get mad at or be mean to one another over petty online things. Let’s focus our anger on Steve, my mom’s friend’s son who is apparently the perfect child. Fuck that guy.

history on the line in the men's giant slalom with one run to go:

Brazil's Lucas Piinheiro Braathen leads by almost a full second — he'd be the first South American to win any Winter Olympic medal ever

I am considering making a wool cape for myself next winter and now I have inspiration.
I came across this Dolomite* king in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, where part of the Winter Olympics are being held.

*Dolomite as in Italian alps, not the legendary 1975 film, Dolemite.

I feel so bad for Ilia Malinin but I don't think this is one of those situations where the public/media can be blamed for putting too much pressure on the kid. He really seemed to relish the role of frontrunner and encouraged the hype, and the hype was totally deserved based on his accomplishments.
Also also: look, the pressure was bad, and we shouldn't do that, but Ilia did in fact call himself the Quad God.

I give Ilia Malinin all the credit for speaking honestly to NBC and congratulating Mikhail. But man -- he's in need of a whole lot of mental coaching as the next quad starts.
