Hello! Chef. Leftie. Hammer. Skater. Sussex by the sea. No Terfs/Transphobes please. She/her.

It's not my birthday today 😕

Also not so recently single. Form a queue, lads.

Wombie wrote this about his friends but it is what we all thought of him too. Typical of him to have the perfect words for the occasion.
Drove from Salford to Norwich and went past some interestingly named places:

Penistone (fnaaar)

Burton Pedwardine - sounds like a character in Harry Potter

Clenchwharton...

and also not weird, but Sporle. Almost impossible to say in my very flat r accent.

Watching Jurassic Park. My 16yo head never seen it. Apart from Jeff Goldblum being a bit of a creep it stands up quite well for a 33yo film.

Today in the French Republican Calendar it is the 26th of Pluvoise which is basically the 26th of rain which feels pretty bloody accurate tbh.

Remember if you're alone today, it's because you are unlovable and difficult to be around.

Is it me or are the male figure skaters a lot less polished than the female?

Kinda want the Americans to win this ice skating. They're retiring and they're married and it's all so adorably cute.

Introduce yourself with the name your parents almost gave you:

Rachel

Dull, but better than what they saddled me with. I often think about Rachel. She would have done way better at life than I did.
Introduce yourself with the name your parents almost gave you:

Gwendoline

When I changed my given name 20 years ago, my father was APPALLED that I hadn't named myself Rebecca, a name he discovered in the family tree 30 years after I was born. He's not spoken to me since.
Introduce yourself with the name your parents almost gave you:

Wilfred. It’s why I use it.

Although I do joke sometimes that I’m named for my *mum’s* favourite gay WWI poet, if I were named for my *dad’s* it would be Siegfried.

Age verification? I don't need that. Pubs are more than happy to sell me a pint of Watney's without it.
Age verification? I only had 3 channels till age 14.
Age verification?

I remember when there were four channels. The state channel, the middle class channel, the scumbag channel and the there might be something to knock one out over later on channel.*

Rewatching series 3 of Bridgerton before I dive into series 4. Every time I rewatch I catch more and more details in the fashion and the sets. It really is a remarkable show, the most beautiful on telly for a long time.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

I'm not an activist as such but I started to talk to my children about a potential rise in fascism in 2009, when the BNP suddenly became big news. It's been lurking everywhere for a while.
Just thinking of all the activists who warned us about every single second of the current reality for absolutely years in advance.

This reminds me that at some point when my kids were little I noticed that a LOT of books about animals and monsters called the main character He. So I just used to call every character in every book she.
I have a friend who illustrates children's books and if hes given a book and it doesn't explicitly mention both a Mum and a Dad... They're gay. The book mentions a Dad? He's drawing two. The book mentions a Mum? Let's double up. Everything is gay until proven otherwise and he will illustrate as such
live from the chaos house, we have determined that the Gruffalo is gay because the Gruffalo's child does not mention a mummy gruffalo idk
