🎯. This! ⤵️
We really need to stop being cowards and dream bigger for our public realms.
Alki can be not just car-light but car-free in some places if we actually tried. Lives genuinely depend on it.

🎯 And the rich shouldn’t decide how we live by selectively donating to their charity of choice. @anandwrites.bsky.social
Hot take? Charities shouldn't need to exist in a functioning society.

Yes! Enough. Plus… we need a union who is supportive of CARE team and they are not. ⤵️
Mayor Wilson’s first action should be to cancel Bruce Harrell’s rushed cop contract
Mike Solan, SPD guild president, issued a statement openly questioning the validity of the votes for Katie Wilson.

Solan's embrace of the far right & SPD's history of aggression could make a dangerous situation if the national guard is sent to #Seattle.

"I want great safe public spaces where kids can run around with abandon"

Said the new Mayor of Seattle Katie Wilson yesterday, a woman of course. First time I've heard an executive say kids safety is a priority. She's going to change the City!
We’re spending a rainy Friday getting ready for next week’s Netherlands launch. Copies of Women Changing Cities are stamped, signed, and ready to go!*

Do you have ideas? Have at it! ⤵️
we're starting to dream about the improvements we'd like to see in the Junction! what problems do you experience? what would you like to see??
Reducing California Way in the junction to one drive lane each way (or just pedestrianizing it altogether) would pretty quickly solve this issue

Katie Wilson's win, plus the massive margins of victory for three progressive City Council candidates (just one incumbent) and a progressive City Attorney candidate suggest an overwhelming mandate for bold policy initiatives on housing and public safety. Let's go, Seattle!

Seattle has less than a year to get ready for our FIFA party 🎉 ⚽️
Let’s do it right!!

No stuffing everything in the closet and spraying Febreze. ⤵️

It’s a heavy lift but with Space Needle thinking..

Let’s triple up pedestrianization & get our transit in tip top shape (with contactless payment!)
Epic win for @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social So excited for all the possibilities and clearing the way to get people in stable housing and much needed medical help

Just want to reiterate Murray declared a honeless state of Emergency in 2015. Then Seattle elected two Mayor's who did everything they could to make it worse. We finally got one who can help make it better!
We've been 12+ years with a corporate lapdog in the mayor's office, in a city with significantly strong executive authority! The lapdog lineage oversaw the exacerbation of every overlapping historic crisis this city is experiencing! Murray declared a state of emergency on homelessness in ***2015***

Hey experts: Is it possible to make a shared street with a bus route? ie Phinney Ridge Greenwood Ave ( currently has Bus 5). This street would be so much better without cars

I will also be there at the table for Alki Community Council. Would really like to see some renters and transit riders stop by to discuss Alki becoming a Neighborhood center.
We'll have a table at the Joiner Jamboree tomorrow (Sat 11/8)!
Come up to North Admiral to say hi! 11a-3p

It turns out there a lot of other bike lane puddle safety issues around the city that have been reported ( according to @sngreenways.bsky.social Discord) but don’t get fixed. A real safety issue.
@seattledot.bsky.social is there any plans for better drainage here?

seattle's design review does not make for better projects. at all.

it does, however, delay projects significantly

in an era where tariffs change almost daily, and interest rates are high...

this delay adds cost, uncertainty, and incredible risk.
New working paper studying project permitting in Seattle estimates that design review as part of the development process increased review time by 4 to 5 months. Author's model estimates that design review was associated with a 3% decline in the number of units permitted.

Come on, Seattle, Boston blazed the trail. Let’s be #2! We’ve got the need and resources to make it happen!
Guaranteed summer jobs for high schoolers is a GREAT city policy. Win-win-win.

City wins: Clean up the parks, lifeguards, swim lessons.

Kids win: Learn job skills, stay out of trouble.

Families win: Sign up enough as day camp counselors and you can offer universal summer care for K-8, too!
No city fights harder for its young people than Boston. Join us in raising the next generation of leaders at @bostonschools.boston.gov. #BostonSOTS

I’ve said this many times but it’s worth repeating:

When it comes to voting, we have an Election Day deadline.

When it comes to election results, we have an Election Week.

The more media sets this expectation, the less confusion and more trust we’ll have in our great vote by mail system. #waelex

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has a 7-percentage-point lead (53.3% to 46.2%) over progressive challenger Katie Wilson.

But there is a very good chance he will end up losing.
