It seems like Saka has finally started to listen to residents in his district and across the city.

(Likely motivated by seeing his moderate colleagues who ignored concerns about police accountability and restrictions on the CARE team get trounced in the last election)

I’ll take it!

Markings have showed up! Last block to complete the street is imminent. Very excited! @seattledot.bsky.social

Bus 50 that serves my Alki neighborhood is not fast, frequent, or reliable.

I may be able to get a quick connection to link outbound but coming back home means possibly sitting at a dark rainy bus stop at SODO station up to a half hour.

Thus Alki residents don’t take the bus 😔

Too many cars.
Transit in West Seattle that doesn't serve downtown is pretty dismal.
I could walk 18 mins down a 200' hill in the rain to get back to Delridge from the Junction, or wait 25 mins to take the 11 min bus trip (40 mins total) because route 50 only runs twice an hour.

Or drive 3 mins.

When we get our city ready for guests, we all benefit. Let’s get to it!
Our city is ready, the fans are ready, and I can't wait! FIFA World Cup is coming to Seattle, and we are so excited to be a part of the global celebration. With matches on Juneteenth and Pride, we get to show the world that in Seattle, everyone is welcome. What an incredible honor for our city!

One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

Young people bear the brunt of that imbalance.

Be a housing fan.

I’m seeing more cars lately blocking the sidewalk like this one. What ideas do you have for people to stop doing this?

You know what makes companies leave? Seeing us not properly taking care of our beautiful state and its residents.
Massachusetts taxed the rich and they didn’t leave. Washington should too
Rep. Shaun Scott wants to plug Trump’s cuts with a statewide high earner payroll tax. It could raise 3 billion dollars a year for higher ed, clean energy, SNAP, and more. Conservatives are already shouting that businesses will leave. Advocates say that threat is empty.
Rep. Shaun Scott Wants to Fight Trump Cuts with a Statewide Payroll Tax
Scott introduced a small package of bills to make up for the cuts in Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” but the “Well Washington Fund” is the centerpiece. The payroll tax is s...

Washingtonians want legislators and Governor Ferguson to balance the state budget with progressive revenue, not more cuts
The governor told reporters at a December media availability he plans to propose a supplemental budget for 2026 that relies on cuts to balance, with no new revenue. This would be a huge mistake. Legislators must chart a different course.

Thank you @atg.wa.gov
1/2: HUD is recklessly limiting grants for Permanent Supportive Housing and imposing partisan demands on providers. This destabilizes our Continuum of Care program, endangers lives and we're fighting back to protect vulnerable Washingtonians and hold the federal government accountable.

So wrong and shady

Tax the rich. Why do they get to dictate how people live.
Breaking News: Michael and Susan Dell said they would put $250 in individual investment accounts for 25 million American children, expanding the reach of soon-to-be-created "Trump accounts."

Seattle is not small or narrow. It’s huge and we can easily double our population if we are being realistic. It would fund transit, schools and services and bring an economic vitality and vibrancy to every part of our city
December 1, 2025 at 6:12 AM
People are resistant of new housing but love the vibrancy that children bring to their neighborhood. We need to highlight that connection. Multi generational communities are the best
New Yorkers kept telling me the same thing: they’re thinking of leaving because they can’t afford to raise their kids here. Universal childcare isn’t just a promise — it’s how we make this a city for everyone.

Today’s “My Take” column. @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social knows she’s got a lot of work to do on public safety. We definitely need to make better use of the 💰 we spend on policing and homelessness. Happy she’s on it.

Me: Let’s remove a lane of street parking to add a PBL between Alki and Lincoln park 🚲

Them: I’ve stored my vehicle on the street for free for decades Don’t take it away.

Me: Time to allow hundreds of bikers to safely travel between the parks

turns out best way to beautify your city is also best way to adapt to climate change:

deprioritize cars & on-street parking

prioritize sustainable mobility and sponge city principles (de-paving streets for trees)

bonus points: cleaner air, reduced urban heat islands, better public health outcomes

The public also has a car first mentality People are coming around and I’m glad our new mayor will be spreading this message.
this. we need to extricate the car-first mentality that pervades SDOT and prevents us from the safety and quality of life transformations needed to meet climate and vision zero goals
Continuity can be good, and there are Harrell administration leaders who have earned a chance to continue, but @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social should accept Adiam Emery’s resignation, and appoint a new interim SDOT director to serve while she conducts a national search.

@seattleparksandrec.bsky.social Both Highpoint and Delridge Community ctrs closed for 9 days 😏 Hiawatha and Alki centers are closed permanently to residents. West seattle residents loss. I’m sure tons of people would love to use them during this time period Why can’t we keep them open?
