Mayor Wilson yesterday delayed the removal of an ecampment in Ballard, which is notable. Also notable: The city has removed more than 100 smaller encampments and RVs since Jan. 4. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

The encampment, by the Burke-Gilman Trail, is home to roughly 17 tents. Wilson visited the location Wednesday, speaking with people staying there.

We are beyond honored to have joined Mayor Wilson this morning to announce an executive order for bus lanes on Denny Way. We can't wait to finally Fix the L8 and see what she has in store for the next 4 years of Seattle's transit

Huge congrats to @fixthel8.bsky.social and @nicksattele.bsky.social and everyone else who spoke up and asked for better buses!!
The second item: "We're going to be getting out the red paint on Denny Way," Wilson said. "We cannot let one of our highest ridership routes languish in traffic." Bus lane inbound.

Major Milestone for the Utility Project that will add a bus lane ;)
MAJOR MILESTONE for the RapidRide J Line: we've installed 9,000+ feet of new watermains in Eastlake. Now we'll build streets serving you with frequent, reliable transit when the J Line launches in 2027: https://sdotblog.seattle.gov/2026/01/12/rapidride-j-line-project-milestone-water-main-work/

hahahahaha that's funny
Incredible: this bill includes an exemption from changes to parking minimums for a city within one mile of an airport with 9 million annual emplacements.

Which doesn't exist in Indiana.

It's copied over from Washington's parking reform bill, targeting SeaTac.

This is incredible!!!!!
Major light rail news: simulated service on the 2 Line is expected to start within a month.

That's the last big milestone before a grand opening, and brings the benefit of added trains riders will be able to board between International District and Lynnwood.

While I do think the entire story is overblown, a return to pre-Covid policy doesn’t seem like the answer either considering outcomes (ever increasing drug overdoses/deaths etc.).
By the way: "Don't arrest people for misdemeanor possession" isn't some radical policy. It was SEATTLE's policy until 2023, when the city created these misdemeanors. And it was the city's policy for low-level drug felonies starting in 2009. The war on drugs was revived in Seattle RECENTLY.
My story isn't a simple "debunking" of the rightwing narrative; rather, it's a piece I was reporting already about how Seattle's police chief appears to have issued a directive in a vacuum, alarming cops and helping set of a right-wing media firestorm aimed at new Mayor Katie Wilson.

I’m hoping that our new Mayor actually brings some Space Needle Thinking and action over the next four years!
What was the Space Needle thinking big item Mayor Harrell got done?
My favorite Harrell Administration moment was the Westlake monorail station renovation ribbon-cutting and 60th anniversary event where they announced trains were going to be free for the next 80 minutes only.
