So much pain :(
A hyped Bobby Dodd Stadium at night is going about as well as Bill Belichick’s season opener.

Madison Valley has fallen (to PCC)
More than nine years after the process started, the "Save Madison Valley" building is finally getting close to opening its doors to residents.

“I have nothing against Westbank, the developer of the tower. I’m glad someone is building housing in downtown Seattle, even if it’s housing that people like me can’t afford.”
Throwback to the time that The Urbanist sent Katie Wilson to cover the grand opening of a Belltown highrise, which featured the hoisting of a $1.6 million supercar to the building's roof. But how people cover child care costs is a scandal, am I right?

Interesting question —>
Why don't all councilmembers just do the kinds of things that @alexis4seattle.bsky.social does? Do they dislike popularity? Do they enjoy difficult elections?

Adding carfree households but not more carfree space 👎
Living in Capitol Hill is a study in contradictions: you're in a place has added more carfree households than maybe any other neighborhood on the west coast over the past two decades, and yet every net new car that gets added actively degrades your quality of life.

I’m so confused with the 2 right now… isn’t the stop at 12th Ave open now?

Love it when the State Environmental Policy Act is more about preserving the status quo versus protecting the environment!

We must move fast and not get bogged down in “process”
Seattle — Now that we have electeds that listen to left urbanists, we have to be clear about what we want & be very loud so they have political cover. We have to make sure media hears us so electeds respond to us. Next 3 years hinges on being very active at council. Election was only the beginning!

Seattle’s historical boards and commissions are mostly reactionary fiefdoms.
Tom Graff says that if SDOT moves forward on bollards without commission approval, "we will stop you in every way that we can."

That’s the good thing about bollards… they rated to basically stop everything!

Will be interesting to see if our new mayor takes on these undemocratic boards…
The historical commission wants more data on how the pedestrianization pilot is going. They think that business owners and Market residents aren't being heard.

Good on Bruce for this 👍
After public comment, historical commission chair Jonathan Cracolici is picking apart a comment from Bruce Harrell about making Pike Place the best "pedestrian experience" in the county.
He says it should be the best "customer experience," because it's a market that's there for people to make money.

Excited for this -->

"Now that she’s been elected, Wilson owes relatively little in political debt to organizations — to her right or left — as she enters office. She’s pointed that out as a strength, saying she can govern and staff her office exactly as she sees fit."

Katie Wilson being a socialist will come up a lot, particularly from the right. It’s true she identifies that way, as she told Danny Westneat. But I found it interesting that Seattle’s DSA chapter voted against endorsing her. Unlike Mamdani, she’s not affiliated with any socialist organizations.

Thanks SDOT and USDOT!
Nearly 1,100 days after safety advocates painted a guerrilla crosswalk at Harvard Ave E and E Olive Way (and SDOT washed it off), there is now a permanent crosswalk here.
