At a recent gathering of Rogers Park volunteers, we heard from a neighbor who choked up telling us about their dad turning around and going home when he heard whistles up the street. "One of you may have saved his life that day." It all matters, it really does.
One thing that is tough about rapid response/patrols, besides constantly being threatened by armed secret police, is that for the most part they see the defeats. There are exceptions, but you’ll never know how many people were saved by slowing feds down, whistles, community alerts, etc.

This is actually a genius idea, it is practical and based in unhoused folx's lived experience. Who's in??
Does anyone know any millionaires who want to make a large tax-deductible donation before the end of the year? I’d like to be able to give our 40 folding wagons a week. This would save lives and give unhoused people a way to pack up their tents quick when the city tells them to move.

Tonight, the Department of Homeland Security announced that on Tuesday they detained 14 of our neighbors on immigration charges. What they initially reported as a targeted criminal enforcement action was in fact an identity-based raid on people who had done nothing but show up for work that day.
