It’s always rough when my “don’t sit down until there’s nothing else I need to finish” rule runs into “I need to eat.”

Anyway, I’ve watched two episodes of Traitors UK after sitting down to eat an apple with peanut butter.

I firmly believe our petty/ridiculous/vindicative sides need space to exist. They’re all part of what makes us human. Bonus – it’s just more fun.

Trans rights are human rights. They also win elections.
Checking in on this: the school board member who opposed the ban on trans athletes, and who was then challenged by the parent of the HS girl who'd complained, won reelection, 60 to 40%.
I'd totally missed this:

In Tumwater, WA, a HS student complained about a trans basketball player. Then, the local school board passed a resolution to ban trans girls from girl sports.

Now, the mother of that student is running against the sole school board member to vote against the resolution.

Muting all the words and watching The Traitors UK are excellent ways of preserving our sanity.

I’m officially counting my chickens that haven’t technically hatched yet.

Aaron rinsed out an empty dog food bag in our back yard one time.

Eighteen (18!) months later every dog that comes to our yard sniffs and scratches in that area.

If I admit we underestimated dogs and apologize will they stop eating the dirt???

Scalia was (unfortunately) correct about police protecting property rights. Who the founders considered property when they wrote the Constitution and the origins of policing back that up.

The police are still doing what they were created for – serving the interests of capital.
explained that police have no duty to protect people because their only job is to protect property rights, and an order of protection was "not the sort of 'entitlement' out of which a property interest is created." The right to be protected from harm by police, wrote Scalia,

My favorite neighbors that I haven’t met are the one who had a Paw Patrol yard sign made with a picture of their actual dog.

The Booth at the End is on Tubi. I repeat – The Booth at the End is on Tubi. Drop what you’re doing, crush your children out of the way, and watch it immediately.

I’m very annoyed with the person calling religious organizations and pretending to need baby formula.

I’ll never defend churches but holy hell everything she’s doing is counterproductive and helps no one.

@democrats.org are fucking fools and absolute cowards. It’s a (literal) deadly combination — people who can’t afford health insurance aren’t going to get healthcare when they need it.
THIS!!!
A. You cannot trade anything for a Republican promise. Their promises are worth nothing.
B. The House can simply refuse to consider it even if they actually allow a vote in the Senate and somehow don't vote it down.

THE ONLY THING THIS WILL DO IS KILL THE MOMENTUM DEMOCRATS ARE HAVING.
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.

Instead of targeting Schumer directly maybe target the people underpinning his support. This is a list of Senators up for re-election next year (I have not fact checked at all, I'm tipsy googling)

Constituent here, thank you for this. Now start the work to remove Schumer from leadership. A nation is begging you.
This bill doesn’t address the core issue that millions of Americans will no longer be able to afford ACA insurance coverage next year. I’m willing to work with anyone to create a path forward but this isn’t it.

Oh this is GOOD
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
