Seattle and Portland area folks:

These two sweeties need a new foster home by December 12th. One boy, one girl, both fixed. They’ll come with food, toys, and litter (also a cat playpen if you want it).

Would really appreciate any shares to cast a wider net.

100% a correct answer. That show was perfect from beginning to end.

I haven’t clicked through yet. I am SO excited.

I recommend Wayward Children to everyone I know, repeatedly, until they relent and read the first novella. They have all gone on to read the rest.

These stories are incredible. They have so much to say about what is to be human. Can’t wait to dive into @seananmcguire.bsky.social newest work.

A year ago today I was fuming about not reading the new novella in my favorite series at midnight because I had to wake up at 4:30am to go to the hospital for brain surgery.

Today I went to the book release event for Through Gates of Garnet and Gold. What a way to start and end a year.

Ooooh, adding it to my list!

After I first learned about Sax I asked my husband if he knew about him. He nodded and said with an absolutely straight face “Of course. He’s the man who defeated God.”

My professional saxophone playing husband approves this message.

Lobby was full. Checked in and went back outside to the rain and cold to wait. They called me in less than 5 minutes later because…

…scratching your eyeball can sometimes cause it to swell and pop. Imagine the show that lobby full of people could have had.

So I’m driving around Seattle in the rain and dark in pain with one eye closed trying to find an urgent care that had a walk-in spot available. After three failed attempts went to the ER.
January 6, 2026 at 8:01 PM
Tripped over literally nothing while rubbing my eye and scratched my cornea so badly the ER doctor gasped when he looked at it. A year later the optometrist remembered me because it was the biggest scratch he’d seen.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

Remember that article a bit ago that said activity trackers can increase our anxiety?

We weren’t meant to know this much about ourselves.

God tried so hard to stop the saxophone from being invented.

I listened to the last one again yesterday to prepare.

One of ours does the same thing for minutes at a time. Like she’s confused that it’s not covered so she going to keep trying. 😂

Terrible news — the s’mores bar a block from the hotel was disappointing.
January 4, 2026 at 7:50 PM
It’s pretty great. Even if I was paying it would be a steal (especially after looking at prices in New York City).

Took the foster cats back to their owner (hooray!) so I’m solo in Portland at a hotel I’m definitely not cool enough to stay in. Thanks credit card points!

One of my senators, ever the disappointment.
President Trump’s actions today with Venezuela raise more questions than answers. Is America going to be involved in running and stabilizing Venezuela? Today's actions raise many questions about the stability of the region and our policy towards South America.

She’s a moderate who is assumed to be more liberal because she’s from Washington. Consistently a disappointment.
January 4, 2026 at 1:11 AM
Oh for sure, I don’t mean to minimize that. I’d just also like to hear them say that if they’d been able to vote for it they wouldn’t have.
January 4, 2026 at 1:09 AM
I haven’t been online much as I’m roadtripping today but – has there been a single Democrat who has said “this isn’t okay in any way, shape, or form”? The few I’ve seen seem to be saying they’re just angry Trump didn’t do it the right way.

Bought three pairs of glasses/lenses in April 2025 that cost less than the two pairs I bought today from the same store.

Tariffs and inflation, perfect.

When everything is chaos uncertainty is a good thing. Hard to embrace and still very true.
Belatedly watching Mamdani inauguration& Jumaane Williams speech: “That’s the thing about uncertainty- anything can happen. But also, anything *can* happen. We could make NY more affordable, more safe and more just. We could, we can, and we have to try.” That’s it, y’all. That’s radical pragmatism.
