Can confirm. I’m 3 years and 4 months in and I’m here to tell you long covid is not for the faint of heart.
Long COVID is more than fatigue. Our new study suggests its impact is similar to a stroke or Parkinson’s
Long COVID isn’t just a bunch of lingering symptoms. A new study shows it can stop peoole doing what they want to do, and need to do.

In 1846, a doctor proved handwashing could save lives.

He was mocked by the medical establishment, lost his job, and was eventually committed to an asylum. Shortly after, he was beaten to death by attendants while trying to escape.

In some ways, medicine is still kind of like this. See why:

When people ask me when I'm going to stop wearing a mask, my new response is "have you see what's happening to public health in America? Do you think there will be any support if you get Long Covid?"

I wish I was exaggerating when I say this: showering feels like an extreme sport when you’re chronically ill/disabled.

Yes, and let's not forget that measles is spreading in part bc liberals and leftists are drinking up right wing propaganda on Covid to the point that they now believe that disease isn't harmful & it's ok to be repeatedly infected w harmful viruses as long as ur vaccinated (spoiler: it's not!)

There is such deep ableism embedded in the idea that only some people should wear a mask to protect themselves from COVID-19.

So many people continue to be in denial of their own health risks with COVID-19, Long COVID, and all the many health issues that COVID-19 can bring on.

OpenAI is using Studio Ghibli-style memes as an ad hoc promotional campaign for its new image generator—despite Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki's famous hatred of AI. Sam Altman made his X avatar a 'Ghiblified' portrait.

Disgracing Miyazaki is part of the point: It's more proof to them tech has won.
OpenAI's Studio Ghibli meme factory is an insult to art itself

Unleashed spread of SARS-CoV-2 has triggered a tsunami of chronic disease. As I've written a few times, no healthcare system in the world is equipped to deal with this appropriately. Therefore, sadly, denial, ableism, welfare cuts, and eugenics will prosper.

TBH the switch from "we're all in this together" to "back to normal; you're on your own" during an ongoing pandemic absolutely prepared me for this.

I mean it feels pretty much the same as that to me.
I am fascinated by how quickly American foundational myths and narratives are being jettisoned. No kings. A ragtag army fighting an empire (which should make the US sympathize with Ukraine). Keeping treaties and promises. Just poof

There’s a reason most Canadians still don’t know Covid is airborne and it’s because you kept promoting Covid minimizers while ignoring scientists trying to share actual COVID research. So I’m not surprised at all you’re taking this stance, and you’re doubling down like I knew you would.

This is why we beg you to wear a mask.

When you mask up, you show solidarity with disabled people. You tell the government you don’t agree that we are “acceptable losses”. You fight back against fascism, surveillance & mass infection.

It’s a powerful tool for the resistance.
It’s wanting to abolish Section 504, wanting to cut Medicare, wanting to get rid of DEIA, wanting to stop people working from home. All of this will kill disabled people. When we tell you that pandemics lead to fascism, this is what we mean. When you excuse our deaths, these policies are pushed.

I have a mild form of this and it controls my life. I don’t understand why people are so willing to risk getting a horrible chronic disease like this, or any of the other chronic diseases or acute medical crises that Covid can cause. Please wear a mask in public.

Not shocked after seeing how he handled Covid related topics.
Fucking hell. Ian Hanomansing just suggested people should "do fact checking online" after the program.

This is journalistic malpractice. I can't.

The only thing this broadcast has illuminated, information-wise, is Hanomansing's narcissism.
