Oh, I wouldn't recommend it.
Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?
Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends.

Resolution 1: Actually finish painting a full Warhammer army.

Resolution 2: Publish more fiction.

Resolution 3: Begin laying the groundwork for a Victoria comic-con in the style of Toronto Comic Arts Festival.

Resolution 4: Do better dating?

Resolution 5: Restart Arm Days

2025
Good:
- a hopefully stable job for the foreseeable future
- visiting Nordic and Baltic states
- best article: CBC on Neo-Opsis

Bad:
- being fired from the Bike Valet
- not writing any fiction
- grandma dying

Ugly:
- extended family drama from above
- dad heart problems
- the world

This year:
- Bolsonaro went to prison
- Yoon Suk Yeol was arrested and is being tried
- Brazil and Belgium joined S. Africa's ICJ case on Israel's genocide
- Global green energy surpassed coal power
- Denmark passed a law against deepfakes

There are people still fighting to make the world better.

On a recommendation, I watched all of Arcane.

Season 1 is incredible. Animation like nothing else. Visually stunning setting. Characters drive the plot. Choices have consequences. A brilliant dynamic of conflict between sisters mirroring a larger conflict of the two powers.

Season 2 is a fart.

MAGA looking at Japan: how is this country so safe

Japan: we have strict gun laws, less inequality and a high cultural value of collectivism, as well as people who still feel shame when they wrong each other and are outed

MAGA: got it racial purity

We won't begin to roll back the tide of fascism until white liberals come to terms with the fact that tens of millions of their fellow citizens actively, knowingly, support racist Gestapo policies. Tens of millions of racists were not deluded or misled. How will you adjust your strategy accordingly?

Checking in on the criteria for Baen Books' annual contests and delighted to see that AI stories are automatically disqualified.

I flipped over to The Nighmare Realm to see the full thread, and what really strikes me is how McArdle frames this as "moral shaming". It's so emblematic of American Liberal values - they're still operating in this "both sides" realm that never existed. That Trump is a natural reaction to "shaming."
This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

Wow... I've read her letter (which she wrote using AI 🤮) and allll the comments underneath it (including her many many clarifications of said letter), and it's so unintentionally hilarious. 🫠

Also worth pointing out that the Internal Combustion Engine was invented by a German, as well as the first petrol-powered vehicle.

The latter was invented by Siegfried Marcus, and his name was obliterated from the public record by Nazis because he was Jewish.
Immigrant-hating Stephen Miller talks about Americans being "first to harness the atom." But the first controlled, self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction was conducted by a team led by Italian immigrant Enrico Fermi, who didn't become a U.S. citizen until a year and a half later.

Posting AI slop should be immediately disqualifying for union leadership.

There's a convention for AFT next year. Teachers should be seriously looking for new leaders informed on the issues of today.
This one was such fun… so I am sharing

Can we collectively put The Atlantic in the dumpster forever now, please? The repeated platforming of ignorant and uninformed shit in their pages has reached a fever pitch, and I don't care if they occasionally publish a tokenistic leftie op-ed.
David Frum's latest anti-Native rights piece in the Atlantic is so misinformed, so carelessly put together that he confused the band number with the population. Kwikwetlem is band code 560 - an administrative number from ISC. The population is 153. 1

Tech Bro.
Also again *what job*. What possible job could people do that would be better done in space than here on earth.
It is currently comically beyond our capabilities to build a space station that can support more than a handful of highly-trained astronauts for extended periods, at enormous cost.

Claiming that untrained college grads will just hop on a rocket for a lucrative career in 2035 is a shameless lie.
