I do the same thing and once a cop yell at me for not going 🫠
Three drivers tried to wave us through this crossing while blocking me from view for drivers in the other lanes of travel. Even if it's safe, I often refuse to go—little eyes are watching & she needs to learn how to cross safely & not trust that cars will stop. #yycbike

Vancouver's 2026 draft budget has PASSED.

Approved on a 7-4 vote on party lines, with ABC in favour and councillors Fry/Bligh/Orr/Maloney opposed.

Property tax freeze, $50 million more for VPD, and cuts to Arts, Culture, Planning and Sustainability departments, among others.

Full story to come.

"The frequency is the thing for me. . . every 15 minutes is incredible."

Frequency is freedom.
🚌 Strategies used to turnaround Akron’s bus system:

1. CEO used to be a bus driver, now rides the bus with customers
2. Run buses every 15 minutes, 7 days a week
3. Concentrate on most needed services
4. Reduce job requirements

I live in a 3 storey condo building on a quiet side street that was built in the 70s, and I love it. It’s green and peaceful, but mere steps to the transit and shopping of a major road. Allowing up to 6 floors wouldn’t be a significant change, and would open this up to more people
Ken Sim and ABC have voted to bury Lucy Maloney’s motion that would have brought six floors and corner stores to side streets across Vancouver, unlocking thousands of family-friendly homes.

Nooooooooo! There are very few 50-meter pools in Vancouver, and this was one of the only dedicated 50-meter pools. 😭
This is the proposed design of the new $170-million Vancouver Aquatic Centre.

A modern look while preserving a sense of familiarity; inspired by the existing building.

But it'll be smaller than planned, without a 50-metre lap pool. #vanpoli #vanre
