So we’re stuck with the same obfuscation and lack of transparency with the maintenance of these lines that we’ve had throughout construction? TTC has gotta take over the maintenance ASAP.

At the very least Mosaic and Crosslinx need to have a presence at the TTC Board to be held accountable.

The TTC website is now reporting daily OTP stats on the front page. This was previously available on the daily customer service report but is now placed front and centre for all to see. I'm liking the new CEOs transparency initiative.

New billion-dollar transit lines shouldn't get stuck for *this long* waiting at red lights.

That's why we're happy to see a motion coming to City Council this week to implement stronger transit signal priority and other measures to speed up LRTs - but it won't happen without your voice!

This is actually pretty cool and creative. The kind of thinking Toronto has been looking for.
Y'all are giving us whiplash with all these announcements this week! This is going to make a massive difference to transit riders in Scarborough and we are thrilled!

It's also a testament to what can be accomplished without provincial meddling. Metrolinx, take note.

Scarborough busway to open earlier than expected, says Mayor Olivia Chow
Construction for the $93.8-million project to convert the defunct Scarborough Rapid Transit corridor into a busway began this year and wasn’t expected to finish until at least 2027.

This is such a big @ttcriders.bsky.social and @mayoroliviachow.ca win!!

The Scarborough Subway extension isn’t going open until past 2030 and people would have been stuck on buses in traffic.

Now the busway will provide fast and reliable service for riders!

personal highlights for me:

the head of transit expansion (a city division) said a knock-on effect of speeding up train service <46m was an increase in maintenance costs, pushing back on calls to speed of Line 6.

telling on themselves that the trains also run slow because austerity?
Learned some illuminating things about Line 6 from City/TTC staff at today’s board meeting that’s worth sharing:

1. Current run time on the Finch LRT is around 56 minutes end to end.

I wanted to compare what I saw on Seattle's Line 1 LRT with Toronto's Finch LRT.

In Seattle, you can see left turning cars waiting while fast-moving transit gets priority. Help TTCriders make it happen in Toronto: www.ttcriders.ca/greenlight

Hey Toronto! Sounds like we’re getting signal priority for ALL our streetcars and LRTs!! 🙌

This could also get more commuters to leave the car at home and take TTC, “the better AND faster way” 🤞

6. Transit signal priority needs to happen, and we’re thrilled that the TTC Board voted in items put forward by Chair Myers to not only implement full signal priority along the LRTs, but across the entire streetcar network. Next up is an item at council, stay tuned for updates.

TTCriders just held a press conference at City Hall to call for transit signal priority & other measures to speed up Line 6 & rest of the streetcar/LRT network!

It's embarassing that the $3.7-billion Line 6 is operating at slower speeds than the bus it replaced. This is unacceptable. Fix the 6!

TTCriders spoke up today in favour of funding a better, more affordable TTC and City with an increase in the tax on luxury home purchases. And it passed - onwards to City Council to be part of next year's Budget!

Taxing the rich to fund the bus, we always love to see it!

Transit riders going between Finch West and Humber College -should not- have to spend more than 40 minutes travelling 10 kilometres on a brand new LRT. We're going to keep pushing to get it under 40.
Ughhhh

They’re getting it down to 46 mins… the original scheduled speed that’s already too slow and padded…

Northwest Toronto just got a transit investment that actually lengthens their commutes.

They deserve better.

Opening of Finch West LRT was very exciting. I love seeing the new infra, beautiful trains & people excited to ride! But we're clearly not done yet. Scheduled travel time of 46 minutes & often over 50 mins in reality just isn't okay when the local bus was scheduled at 38 off-peak and 53 at peak. 1/

It’s wrong that the Finch & Eglinton LRTs don’t have signal priority. Billions of dollars were spent, only for “rapid transit” to go slower than the buses it replaced. Last Spring at Council, I moved for signal priority on these lines. The 2026 budget must fund this priority.

This is amazing news. 47 trips is still a lot, but it means people no longer have to worry about whether or not they should be locked in to a monthly metropass.

Next steps: lower the number, and make it weekly!
Mayor Olivia Chow is introducing fare capping for TTC riders in her upcoming budget. Instead of having to decide whether it makes sense to buy a monthly pass in advance, rides will automatically be free after 47 trips starting next Sept.

1/ BREAKING: Fare capping is happening in Toronto!! This is a massive victory for transit riders, and something that we have been campaigning on for many years.

Torontonians are facing an affordability crisis, and the $156 cost for a monthly pass is prohibitively expensive.
