There's two more days to speak up against cuts to federal transit funding.

No such thing as "Canada Strong" without transit linking our communities.

Tell the Carney government to protect and expand the Canada Public Transit Fund and fund transit operations for more affordable & frequent service ⬇️

Congrats to Montréal where the next phase of their REM metro system opened today! Work started in 2017. Now 50-km of new transit is open for riders! 🎊

Meanwhile, a certain 19-km LRT in Toronto has been under construction since 2011 and there's no opening date in sight... 😤

Public Inquiry now!

Transit rider @nottaylorx.bsky.social shared this video of a side-by-side comparison of a tram in Amsterdam and a streetcar in Toronto departing a stop.

Guess which one has fully active signal priority? A phase before left-turning cars?

There is no new funding for public transit, no operating funding to ensure buses and trains continue to get people to work on time, and no commitment to double or accelerate the Canada Public Transit Fund despite Liberal MPs pledging to do so earlier this year!

Great news! The first sections of dedicated transit lanes are being installed on Bathurst Street this week. Thank you to everyone who spoke up, sent emails, or volunteered for fast & reliable transit.

We know that Bathurst doesn't end at Bloor - and we'll keep pushing to expand transit lanes north.

Adam, co-chair of TTCriders accessibility committee deputes on the item. Talking about safety from an accessibility perspective.
November 3, 2025 at 4:46 PM
TTCriders volunteers are out at City Hall today to speak up for transit signal priority for a more reliable Spadina Streetcar.

Councillors on the Infrastructure and Environment Committee are voting on whether or not to look into prioritizing signal phases for streetcars before left-turning cars.

The "Fighting Delays, Building Faster" Act, appears to give the provincial government authority to ban any use of road space that takes away a lane of traffic - including bike lanes, and could include transit lanes, street festivals, and curbside patios:

Today's announcement by Doug Ford on the so-called "Fighting Delays, Building Faster" Act is yet another attempt to interfere with Toronto's streets and the way we get around, opening the path for the province to ban dedicated transit lanes.

Another delay on the Eglinton LRT?? What are they doing here? We need more accountability from all levels responsible.

Transit riders win for safety! City Council voted today to approve the expansion of Toronto Community Crisis Workers in the subway for a safer, more inclusive TTC - after over 500 people wrote-in to their councillor with our email tool!

Thanks to all who emailed their councillor!

TTCriders volunteers were chatting with riders about fare capping and petitioning this evening at Broadview Station!

What we heard: riders aren't really buying the monthly pass anymore, and they find that taking the TTC can really add up over the course of a month!
October 10, 2025 at 12:36 AM
Everyone deserves to feel safe on the TTC.

That means a care-based, non-enforcement approach to safety.

That's why we're happy to see a plan to roll-out Toronto Community Crisis Workers on the subway!

City Council is voting on this plan tomorrow - send a message: ttcriders.ca/tccs

Last up is Chloe, one of the co-leads of our wayfinding campaign! She also supports the item and urges the board to vote for it!
October 6, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Naomi and Natalie are up next - both volunteers behind the King Street wayfinding makeover. They present some of the beautiful signage that they used, and urge for alphanumeric exit signage to make it quick and easy to find your way in and out of transit!
October 6, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Alex Salton is up next and asks for the approval of the wayfinding strategy. He urges for many specific improvements to digital and physical wayfinding and information to get Toronto caught up with other cities.
October 6, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Rayah Ladak is up next, and she urges for this wayfinding strategy.

She tells a story of taking her Grandmother on Line 2, and confusing the Kennedy and Kipling trains because there was no westbound or eastbound signage. As a result, her 84-year old grandma had to climb back up the stairs - tiring!
October 6, 2025 at 8:15 PM
Satadru is up! Satadru raises the issue of missing signs at Bloor GO - there are no signs pointing to Bloor Street! Without good signage, it's difficult to transfer to Dundas West Station. Additionally, the Bloor Street exit is close to many medical facilities. He urges for a new wayfinding standard
October 6, 2025 at 8:11 PM
Brice is up next - Brice is one of the designers behind TTCriders King Street wayfinding makeover. For his undergrad, his main thesis project was digital wayfinding for Metrolinx. The number one comment he got on his thesis? The TTC needs this - hundreds of people have stories of getting lost.
October 6, 2025 at 8:04 PM
Adam Cohoon is up next. Adam urges for a wayfinding strategy, with robust consultation with riders of all abilities to ensure the standard is rock-solid. Adam mentions that this is a popular issue and many in the community want this.
October 6, 2025 at 8:00 PM
Jennifer Conroy is up next - she urges the TTC to adopt this wayfinding strategy and enter the digital age so that it can be more accessible to all. She urges for accessibility improvements like signage with larger text sizes so it's easier to read.
October 6, 2025 at 8:00 PM
Andrew and August went together because we’re running out of time! Andrew thanked the TTCriders team for making wayfinding a priority, August talked about their experience in Vancouver and how much better their wayfinding is in general.
October 6, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Azad tells a story of helping someone utterly confounded by our transit system at Bathurst station and how it could be so much better. Supports a wayfinding strategy too!
October 6, 2025 at 7:49 PM
It’s Nicholas! He also supports better wayfinding and thanks the board for taking this step, urging their support.
October 6, 2025 at 7:39 PM
Ahmed has a very recent story of inaccurate information as recently as this weekend at Nuit Blanche. Says the wayfinding strategy is key to making the TTC the world class system it deserves to be.
