Line 6 Finch West LRT is finally opening on December 7! After 4 years of delay, the new light rail will open and is expected to serve 40,000 transit riders.

But wait...where's Line 5, the Eglinton Crosstown?

Line 1, 2, 4, & 6? What is counting?

Your turn, TTC!

We commonly hear from riders that they don't feel safe waiting at poorly-lit transit stops at night - especially women & gender minorities.

Better lighting at transit stops & more frequent night service reduce the risk of uncomfortable & unsafe situations, keeping riders safe!
To improve nighttime visibility and safety for both bus drivers and waiting passengers, #TransLink is testing the use of new lighting fixtures.

The Carney Government just passed a Federal Budget that cuts the Canada Public Transit Fund, as the TTC faces a $4.3B repair backlog & $232M operations shortfall.

The $3B fund will now be folded into a generalized infrastructure fund, leaving less money on the table for transit riders nationwide 👎

There's two more days to speak up against cuts to federal transit funding.

No such thing as "Canada Strong" without transit linking our communities.

Tell the Carney government to protect and expand the Canada Public Transit Fund and fund transit operations for more affordable & frequent service ⬇️

Congrats to Montréal where the next phase of their REM metro system opened today! Work started in 2017. Now 50-km of new transit is open for riders! 🎊

Meanwhile, a certain 19-km LRT in Toronto has been under construction since 2011 and there's no opening date in sight... 😤

Public Inquiry now!

We don’t need a privatized separate bus system working alongside the TTC.
Another story of on-demand transit (or "microtransit") hype. The cute and responsive technology works in a tiny rural town, so they propose to do it in the big city, where it will be overwhelmed. Big cities need big transit, not these distractions.

We're happy to announce that we're looking for a volunteer to lead our advocacy efforts for the TTC Streetcar network. Our streetcars are some of the slowest in the world, and on time performance was just 61% last month. As our streetcar lead, you will have the responsibility of:

reminder: your MPs will be voting on a budget on monday that will cut transit funding used for new transit projects, repairs, & infrastructure upkeep.

it means more breakdowns, delays, & slow zones. it means much needed expansion like the waterfront east LRT or UBC skytrain are dead in the water.
$3 billion in annual federal transit funding is in trouble, thanks to Carney's Federal Budget cuts.

Slashing funding for public services like transit is not a way to build a "Strong Canada". Here's how you can take action right now before MPs vote on the budget ⬇️

Transit rider @nottaylorx.bsky.social shared this video of a side-by-side comparison of a tram in Amsterdam and a streetcar in Toronto departing a stop.

Guess which one has fully active signal priority? A phase before left-turning cars?

We hate to see it. Transit riders deserve better.

This month, the TTC reported that only *61%* of streetcars system-wide arrived on-schedule.

This is one big reason ⬇️

Except Budget 2025 proposes cutting funding from the Canada Public Transit Fund towards a more generalized fund, leaving less money on the table for important transit projects and state-of-good-repair 👎

This a step backwards for faster commutes and achieving our climate goals. Not good!

To build Canada strong, we’re building strong communities.

Budget 2025 invests more than $50 billion in new roads, transit, hospitals, colleges, and universities — to empower you with faster commutes, better services, and more opportunities.

The federal budget is likely quite bad for transit. They've rebranded the Canada Public Transit Fund and rolled it into a more generic "Build Communities Strong Fund"

If 'Transit’ was removed from the name, we have to assume that it isn't a priority for this government. Stay tuned for more updates

Great news! The first sections of dedicated transit lanes are being installed on Bathurst Street this week. Thank you to everyone who spoke up, sent emails, or volunteered for fast & reliable transit.

We know that Bathurst doesn't end at Bloor - and we'll keep pushing to expand transit lanes north.

Today's announcement by Doug Ford on the so-called "Fighting Delays, Building Faster" Act is yet another attempt to interfere with Toronto's streets and the way we get around, opening the path for the province to ban dedicated transit lanes.
