Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

Great read on the TallBull Memorial Council, their stewardship of buffalo in Denver, and their annual ceremonial harvest.
Denver’s bison were once zoo animals. Now they’re food and sustenance for Indigenous residents
Since 2018, Denver has allowed a local organization to hold a ceremonial event to harvest one of its roughly 70 buffalo.

This is an exceedingly delicate and well-reported piece about a hard topic
Despite knowing Clint Massie was abusing girls for years, church leaders never reported him to police.

It felt like “a group of people who are not just trying to protect someone — but something,” the DA said. “They have enabled something awful here.”

Young Girls Were Sexually Abused by a Church Member. They Were Told to Forgive and Forget.
In Minnesota, leaders of an Old Apostolic Lutheran Church community enabled a child abuser by telling his victims that once the sins were “washed away in the blood of reconciliation,” they could never...

The article shows you Gaines' nonsensical claims to be a protector of women fighting against abusive men contrasted by her support for her terrible swimming coach who did actual harm to his athletes & employees.

She defends the one who had power, ofc. This is a woman who only values punching down
I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

How right-wing superstar Riley Gaines built an anti-trans empire
The swimmer tied a trans woman for fifth. The MAGA industrial complex took care of the rest.

"The way Grambo sees it, it’s a numbers game. If he can draw the attention of officers to himself, perhaps fewer immigrants will get swept up, and that’s a win. “I know I can’t stop them,” he said, “but if I can suck up their time, then at least I can help some people.”"

This is the way.

If I can give 3 pieces of unsolicited advice to people facing ICE/CBP:
1) go outside
2) meet your neighbors
3) be loud

They want you to be isolated and afraid so they can work in secret, control the narrative, and act with impunity. They lose power when we see what’s happening and to whom.

I'll also repeat this: the toy is a displacement for a parent or guardian because it's the parents' job to shield or not a child from this and other content. A company's product will never factually replace the true role of a mother, but they can and will try.

To help us do this, we develop a lens to help us trace the harm towards women within/by AI by examining literature, film, and other media (see the figure above), and then apply the lens (also above) to current types of technologies like voice assistants to demonstrate its use.
