I'm going to start a thread to try to keep track of stuff I watched, read, listened to, or whatever through the year.

I have such a terrible memory and feel like I forget things as soon as I'm finished watching, so I think this will be interesting to look back on.
We're watching KPop Demon Hunters again and I realised that thunder boy says Abby when he means Zoey.

And now I've decided this is canon and Abby grew up and took the stage name Zoey.

Also, whenever there's no singing in this he very earnestly says "wait" and patiently waits for the next song. 🥰

OMG make Harkonnen hot and also have him played by an actual fat person. This is the hill I want to fight on. Harkonnen has been portrayed in such interesting bodies and fashions of those bodies—but the recent film does such a lazy job!

Okay one more thing about fat bodies in space, which is that Theo Lorenz illustrated a fantastic coloring book full of fat bodies in awesome clothes in space. Fat Ladies In Spaaaaace paints a more creative view of fat bodies in the space future than most sci fi media.

The library has books about almost any craft you want to try, and you can pretty much check out as many as you can handle. It’s how I learned basically every craft I’ve ever gotten serious about, and they also have related magazines - I’m able to read several weaving magazines through Libby!
Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Happy Lunar New Year to all who celebrate🧧

The last Year of the Fire Horse began in '66 & saw anti-war protests & civil rights struggle. It was the year Rev. Jackson left seminary to join Dr. King’s Freedom Movement.

May 2026 bring New York the same bold change people deserve.

GUYS OMFG

my favorite LGBTQ Catholic site published a Lenten spiritual meditation on “Heated Rivalry” and it’s genuinely so beautiful I cried??? it’s all about how queer identity/self-acceptance and queer community and queer love (including, yes, all the onscreen queer sex) are sacred things

Every family should have a plan in case of an emergency. It is critical for immigrant families to think ahead and set more concrete plans for immigration emergencies that can arise. Equally important ...

This one really stresses me out.

A friend had her very prem bub in the same NICU as thunder boy. They refused this and everything else 'non-essential'.

Other babies died in that NICU while we were both there. She got lucky and he's okay, but it's sickening to me that she took those risks.
Insanely unfun fact: comorbid with "vaccine hesitancy" is refusal of the at-birth Vitamin K shot. Babies used to just bleed out from their brains sometimes! We have a solution for that! And people are just going nah!
Yes.

Staph infections were fatal so often that we distinguished them by what part of the body they attacked first. "Childbed fever" is a term for a variety of post-birth complications that killed a lot of women. There are reasons wet nurses used to be so common. (And they're not all class-based.)

I fully support the healthcare workers strike today but we really need to get some bloods done for thunder boy and apparently all of pathology at the one place we can get it done are on strike today.

I really wish they'd allowed for a skeleton staff for complex kids who can't go somewhere else.

Husband has taken thunder boy to a hospital appointment, & I'm staying home to have a break.

I've got myself some pancakes and eggs. And now I'm watching Miriam Margolyes in New Zealand.

I really love her curiosity and the way she takes up space and doesn't apologise for her accessibility needs.

Also, I know that often the lack of care in the community contributes to these violent men committing crimes. But it's so frustrating that he can get better psych care in jail than the people he tried to murder.
So the terrorist is sad that people will know his name? And it might be awkward for his family?
