So I am running the London Lea Valley 50km in March and trying to raise some money for Step Forward - a youth centre in Tower Hamlets, Kiddo attends their LGBTQIA+ group and it's been such a brilliant and supportive space for them, which feels so important when trans youth are under constant attack.

I've just updated my 'Complete Guide to Essays in Ancient Greek Studies' for my @leedsclassics.bsky.social Greek Art and Society students, so I thought it was a good time to share it more widely! Please feel free to use or adapt it if you need to!

It’s cool to think about how many people in the GLAM sector could be paid a fair wage and have real permanent contracts with the amount of money raised just to pay a detectorist and a landowner.

Take the time to do this folks. The proposed changes to ILR are shocking and cruel, which is made abundantly clear in the text of the public consultation linked below. Please lend your voice to try to mitigate the cruelty.
PS. Not too late to tell the government what you think about their proposed changes to Indefinite Leave to Remain - the public consultation is open until 12th Feb.

I’d quite like to move someone I can run trails more easily than I can right now.

But then, I love London and I don’t want to leave London.

Urrrghhhhh the man's a total snake.

Even if you take Mandelson out of the picture, this total charlatan is privatising our NHS by stealth and is also quite happy to let Palantir in...

I knew him but not well, and worry now that he thrived in our political culture. There was a failure of moral seriousness, says health secretary Wes Streeting

I am under no illusion that this will change things, but it would be lovely to see the numbers rise to the level required a parliamentary debate.
Petition: Call a public inquiry into pro-Israel influence on politics & democracy
We are concerned about reported Israeli state-linked and pro-Israel lobbying activity in UK politics. We believe it is important to determine the scope and impact of any such influence campaigns.

For anyone playing along at home my MSCA was declared ineligible because apparently I have been living in Greece, which is news to be (and frankly I would have liked very much).

So that’s the perfect end to my failed academic career.

Last week I ran just over 96km training for the London Lea Valley 50km and London to Brighton 100km. I’m doing this because my trans non-binary kiddo has an incredible youth centre and it costs them £500,000 to keep their doors open.

Please follow my journey ⬇️ and give to support Queer kids!

Pretty big week last week, but feeling really good! A lighter week this week and (excitingly for me!) my first full proper week working with my new coach @rachrunsoutdoors of @sherunsoutdoorsuk!!! My last experience with a coach was…. not great and already the short time working with Rachel has given me an insight into some of the reasons he wasn’t right for me. But this is a really big step and one that I’m really looking forward to - jumping into training, doing some hard things over the next weeks, months, and years and becoming the very best, strongest, and most sustainable runner that I can be. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 #run #running #runner #runners

PSA. Every single garment in existence is handmade. Clothing requires people. A £2 t-shirt isn’t made by a machine, it’s just made by a very exploited person.

And that person is probably a woman.

And that woman is probably from the Global Majority.

I try not be too preachy on this but there are 6 alternatives to Substack here with examples of publications leaving. @sheffieldtribune.bsky.social left for Ghost and continues to grow.

You port across subscribers so much less risky than leaving Twitter.

They don’t just host it and profit from it they have (at least in the past, promoted it). If you have a problem with what’s happening on X you should have a problem with what happens on substack too.

I’m still so angry about the way the UK government treated Shamima Begam.

I will never not be angry about this. It’s so indicative of the ways that girls have to perform perfect victim hood - and Black and Brown girls will never be perfect victims in institutional eyes.
