Additionally: it’s also super good for you to be a beginner at something - and then when you’re no longer a beginner at that, you just add a new thing to be a beginner at!

I’ll be honest. I actually just want financial stability, the time and space to do good research, and to see cohorts of students from the beginning to the end of their degrees.

I’m so tired and so sad and so debilitated by this industry and the perpetuation of privilege.

Hank Green has started giving me the ick.

I’m still not over the ‘knitting is simple’ thing and I’m definitely not over the immediately jumping to Taylor Swift’s defence over the accidental Nazi necklace but having never spoken out about the current genocide in Palestine.

Does anyone have a list of all the online resources that undergrads might want to access (eg Perseus, AIO, ToposText, etc.) with links? I could make one myself (and will if no one has one), I'm just being particularly lazy.

What Streeting did to trans people, he'd do to every other marginalised, disenfranchised & down on their luck group in Britain.

I keep going back to Judith Butler: ‘If you sacrifice a minority like trans people, you are operating within a fascist logic’.

Streeting operates within a fascist logic.

Well, looks like I’ll be writing to my MP. Again.

I’ll also be doing some fundraising for Step Forward - a youth centre in Tower Hamlets that have LGBTQIA+ youth groups, one of which my trans non-binary kid attends and which has been phenomenal for them and their understanding of who they are.

What movie villain is a horrible “person,” but an absolute joy to watch on screen?

If this is not the era in which we get the Milliband Premiership we deserved over a decade ago then I will cry.

But probably we’ll get Wes ‘Fuck Your Healthcare’ Streeting.

Citation is power. Citation is epistemology. Citation is the creation of legitimacy and the gifting of authority.

Some things should not be given currency in our disciplines.

There’s nothing in the USA that’s similar to party leadership removing the whip from (what they see as) rouge MPs, right?

Sewing Influencers Aren’t Immune From Glorifying Overconsumption. And it really bothers me.

Just saw a post of a woman who made no less than 20 new garments last month. All from new fabric. It’s giving ‘I’m super environmentally friendly and driving my own car everywhere is totally fine’.

Today’s half-marathon clarified something for me. I can - with 100% accuracy, I’m calling it - identify a runner behind me wearing Nike Vaporflys.

It’s the clip clop of hooves.

The white poppy has been worn for over 90 years, as a symbol of remembrance & peace.

By wearing a white poppy, we remember all victims of war, both civilian & military. We remember those who are so often overlooked, buried under the rubble, suffering from starvation or displaced from their homes.

I don't wear a red poppy, I remember the victims of war sent to their deaths by self-serving,war mongering governments sending innocents to the slaughter for their gains while governments prosper from death, war & destruction.
I remember all our brave who died defending peace from wars caused by scum
FYI: you don’t have to wear a red poppy to show your support for victims of war. You can wear a white peace poppy to remember all victims of war, to challenge global militarism, and signal your commitment to lasting peace.
