Could we—for fun, for science, darlings take your pick—but could we talk about what we’re doing in a geeky joyful nerdout way even if it’s small or is that too much like bragging or some inscrutable social code i don’t understand

things that please you inordinately. I got to try olive oil soap! 🤩
If the satanic panic of the 80s is of interest to you (and I grew up being warned about this stuff in church!) this podcast is one of the most thorough that I’ve come across.

There are interviews with people who were actually in the midst of what was going on.

Thought I was running late, but forgot I was heading across the border where they don’t do DST. So I’m not late after all. LOL!

And speaking of my little dog (two posts ago), she got her staples out today and the wound (from her melanoma removal) is finally looking really good after it split open six days after the procedure.

I found this feather earlier today. So bright and amazing. I then discovered that it was probably from the aforementioned dead bird.
November 12, 2025 at 5:33 AM
My little dog started to rub herself all over something gross today, and as I pulled her out of it, I started to say, ‘No! We don’t roll in…’ was going to say ‘poop’, but I realised what it was and ended with ‘dead birds’.

Thankfully it was kind of dried out. Poor old rainbow lorikeet.

OMG, I wish that the editors of YouTube videos wouldn’t put on-screen headings right at the bottom where the captions go!!

My friend loves it!!! Yay! 😁

In fact, when I said it could be used a cleaning cloth, she hugged it protectively to her chest and exclaimed, ‘No!’ LOL!
It’s finished!! It’s a gift for a friend which is made from mostly her own fabric scraps, and some of mine.

It can be used as a cleaning cloth, for drying hands, or maybe as a placemat for dinner. It’ll be up to her to decide.

By the time I reach the final day of the second week of taking progesterone (14 days out of 30) for my HRT/MHT, the extreme sleepiness an hour after taking them seems to wear off.

I still sleep better in general when I’m taking them, but the effect hits more… gently.

A question I didn’t expect to be asking my little dog: ‘Are you getting a sore belly from eating too much chook poop??’

I quite like the back of this. It looks interesting.

Next up is to fold it in half, sew it up, and do some reinforcing #sashiko. It won’t be decorative, just functional, but it’ll still make it look cool.

This chick does the best fashion commentary. And here she’s giving great advice about worn out clothing.

Hand sewing hot tip: put your sewing needle into a patch of fabric where it stands out so that you don’t spend 10 minutes on the floor looking for the needle you thought was lost.

So annoying. Thanks, #perimenopause.

A friend reminded me today of the Magic Coffee Table.

Do you also have one in your home?

By the way, this is a thing we joke about often (that her dad likes a heap of foods I hate), so she knows this is good natured ribbing. 👍🏻
I’m ashamed to admit that my kid likes Pepsi Max.

I said to her, ‘You are you daddy’s child, aren’t you?’ [She has inherited a lot of obvious traits from him.] ‘He likes gross things, too.’

🤣🤣🤣🤣

At the house sit we’re currently at, one of the chooks was sitting on some eggs, and at least one baby chicken has hatched!

I looked in on her nesting area this morning and spotted a tiny, fluffy, black chick, and I could hear it cheeping.

I didn’t get a pic before I hid under its mum’s wings.

This is made from all scrap pieces (and the backing fabric was op shopped). I’ve started stitching each raw edge down down with herringbone stitch, will do some sashiko on most or all of the pieces, then fold it double to become a boro style zokin (Japanese cleaning cloth).

Remember when you’d buy something online and you were a bit cautious? Like, ‘Is this a reputable store since they don’t have a sticks and bricks??’
