My most comfy shorts tore at the bottom of the leg, so today is reinforce with sashiko day!

You can see the other leg is also about to tear just above the cuff, so that one will be next.

It’s around this point where I desperately want to wash the lines off.

I made a tiny, fabric bowl from scraps, and did boro style #sashiko on it.

And speaking of my little dog (two posts ago), she got her staples out today and the wound (from her melanoma removal) is finally looking really good after it split open six days after the procedure.

I found this feather earlier today. So bright and amazing. I then discovered that it was probably from the aforementioned dead bird.

My little dog started to rub herself all over something gross today, and as I pulled her out of it, I started to say, ‘No! We don’t roll in…’ was going to say ‘poop’, but I realised what it was and ended with ‘dead birds’.

Thankfully it was kind of dried out. Poor old rainbow lorikeet.

It’s finished!! It’s a gift for a friend which is made from mostly her own fabric scraps, and some of mine.

It can be used as a cleaning cloth, for drying hands, or maybe as a placemat for dinner. It’ll be up to her to decide.

Some #VisibleMending over a hole in a tea towel/dish cloth. First pic is the hole, second is the repair from the front, third is the repair from the back.

I quite like the back of this. It looks interesting.

Next up is to fold it in half, sew it up, and do some reinforcing #sashiko. It won’t be decorative, just functional, but it’ll still make it look cool.

The nesting chicken here at the house sit I’m at had three chicks and I can’t believe how cute they are!!!!

This is made from all scrap pieces (and the backing fabric was op shopped). I’ve started stitching each raw edge down down with herringbone stitch, will do some sashiko on most or all of the pieces, then fold it double to become a boro style zokin (Japanese cleaning cloth).

Speaking of Halloween, and the recent story of my little doggo’s burst incision being put together again, her staples are kind of perfect for Halloween.

She dressed up as a FrankenDog!

Is it just my imagination, or did they make the Bluesky app icon a darker blue? Also, the butterfly has a shadow shading now.

Look what my kid did! She did her very first hand sewing project!

I started from scratch with showing her how to thread a needle, and so she made this tiny pouch. She put her $10 earnings (for feeding the cats for the lady next door) into it. 🥰

Uh oh. She managed to reach her incision from her melanoma surgery yesterday and started licking it quite enthusiastically. So with equal parts sadness and hilarity, I’ve had to fit the cone of shame.

My poor little doggo.

These are the two face and hand cloths that I made (and decorated with #sashiko) from an old, worn out t-shirt that my kid used to wear.

We use cloth instead of paper towels to wipe our hands when we eat, and these are now really pretty. 🥰

Today I finished a second cloth serviette made from the same old t-shirt I used for the first one.

This time with straight #sashiko lines rather than the curved ones on the previous one.

She’s a bit glassy-eyed and sleepy still, but my little doggo is now back with me and doing well. They reckon she won’t be able to reach the incision where the melanoma was removed, so no cone of shame unless she starts licking or biting at it.

I’m so glad she’s back. I was fretting for her.

My first #sashiko with a rounded pattern. This is one of two identical tea towels for my van. The second one will have a different pattern and be done with green thread to match the green and blue theme in my van.

Back included for those interested.

Wow, scammers. Wordy much??

Show this to anyone who you think might be vulnerable to this kind of thing. It’s a scam. It’s not real!

I needed a better storage solution for my sewing kit (previously a small tin) which continues to grow with more cotton, so I hand stitched and did sashiko on this little pouch. All #reclaimed stuff!

I really like the end result. 🥰

A friend lent me this book today. It’s so gloriously dated!! I absolutely love it.

I adore 70s stuff. 🥰 This was first published 1972.

The creative and practical things I’ve been up to in the past four or five days. Two lots of weaving and one mostly hand stitched pillow case for a bolster pillow.

I have been (and do often continue to be) a word snob. Friends have pointed out to me the reasons I’m wrong in this, and I eventually started learning. Which meant I was open to continuing to learn from this comment on a short video I just watched. (Link in thread.)

I bought myself a treat of my own Polaroid Go (mini #Polaroid camera) after my kid’s dad got her one a few weeks ago.

I experimented with distance, framing, and flash or no flash. It’s so different to being able to simply reframe with digital cropping! Fun, though. 😊
