This is about the consolidation & transformation of media/information space into state media via private ownership.

Murdoch owns Fox, the Wall St Journal, & the NY Post.

Ellison owns CBS and soon TikTok.

Zuck owns FB/Insta/WhatsApp.

Musk owns X.

Bezos owns the WP.

Disney/Comcast cower in fear.
Don't buy the canard that this is about Charlie Kirk. Abusing state power to lean on corporate leaders and get Jimmy Kimmel off the air because he told jokes about the president and made him feel bad was always the plan.

Literally exactly what the Founders worried about. Exactly.
A foreign country bribed the president with a bar of gold.

"It was tough to beat Apple, but the Swiss did it." said one administration official.

How the Swiss convinced Trump to drop tariffs with gifts of a Rolex desk clock and a 1 kg gold bar.

The Republican Party under Trump is a criminal enterprise
This is so so disturbing. Trump is now pardoning January 6th rioters for unrelated crimes, just to reward them for their violence to keep him in power.

The Republican Party is in the full time business of endorsing and incentivizing political violence. So scary.

A former career DOJ guy told me a few weeks ago that prior to Trump, the FBI was the varsity team, DHI and ICE were junior varsity, and Border Patrol were like a drunken office softball team. And under Trump, the drunk softball guys are now in charge.
Listen to this Border Patrol agent cry about how he's going to be DOXXED after being arrested for drunkenly barging into a woman's restroom with a loaded gun, demanding a date from the woman inside, and then punching the arresting officers.

Our first step of addressing elite impunity should be firing Democratic staffers and campaign consultants who say Epstein is a sideshow.

Then we might actually be able to address elite impunity.
made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

Shame needs to make a roaring comeback. Not just shame, but "you have dishonored me/my family/my little dog" posturing followed by aggressive immediate teeth-inna-gutter consequences.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Also we have to talk about how journalist now refuse to simply stay fact without having an outside authority saying that a duck is a duck.

It's the normalization of nihilism. Nothing is true, everything is just opinion.
Media standards:

1) No Democratic scandal on par with Trump-Epstein, so it’d be biased and unfair to five it much attention.

2) Trump wouldn’t be shamed into resigning and his cult of personality wouldn’t abandon him, so Trump-Epstein wasn’t worth pursuing.

Way too many think that’s journalism.

Which is why I no longer have any desire to save old journalistic institutions from themselves.

Renewing our democracy will require a thriving press, but it will not be helped by anyone who thinks this line of thinking is at all relevant to doing journalism.
