Just, why?
Regret to report that Kenneth has written a poem about pubs, which he likes and simultaneously doesn’t like, before going off on a tangent like a Donald Trump monologue. Captivating stuff.

This is funny. I do feel for the athletes though. (Unless I find out they're MAGA.)
Plans to invade Greenland have just been cancelled after this

Hey ChatGPT, can you give me some examples of Darwinism in action?
according to a pediatric ER doctor my wife follows on Instagram they have started to see children coming in sick because their parents are asking ChatGPT what the correct dosage is on over the counter medication instead of just looking at the instructions on the bottle
One of the easiest ways to shoot down the idea that "AI" is an expert is to show how it deals with something people know about.

Younger readers may not get this as most appliances come pre-wired, but anyone 35+ can see these are chaotic fire hazards.

From Mastodon, AI asked how to wire a plug:

Patriotism is about striving for a righteous country, not parroting empty slogans and waving a flag.

Our athletes get it.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

Just had a call from a physio saying that we had a face-to-face appointment arranged for 15 minutes ago. No-one told us! (I'm at work and 16yo is at school)! The physio is fully booked to the end of the month, and suggested I ring the health centre to ask for an appointment with another physio.
Oh fgs... I have had a message saying they're going to send us an appt for a physio, but whether that will be for a convenient time, who knows?!

It only took 30mins to fill in the form answering questions about all the symptoms. Surgery will respond tomorrow. 16yo will be at school and I'm out and about. I just wanted to arrange an appointment for a time that was convenient 😭
Just called our local GP practice to make a non-urgent appointment for my 16yo. Apparently it is not possible to do this by phone, and the Receptionist had to spend 10mins explaining where on their website I could find the correct form to fill in to request an appointment. Make it make sense!!

Every Winter Olympics event (except curling) comes with a not insignificant risk of death.
Summer Olympics: running, swimming, cycling, throwing stuff far, jumping real high, several of your favorite sports

Winter Olympics: skiing, skiing but different, fun skiing, gun skiing, 3 ways to slide down an icy tube, curling
Oh @rodger.bsky.social, you kill me.

Great stuff in his newsletter about the Olympics:

Or even without "BREAKING".
Periodic reminder: When someone shares news with "BREAKING" and they aren't a journalist and don't link to a news story, it's probably not the best source for people to be resharing. It might be trying to get rage reposts, even! Better to find a news article that is accurately describing facts.

Perfectly summed up!

They hark back to the good days when we had thriving communities and bustling high streets but any suggestion of doing anything to bring that back is “they’re locking us up!!”🙄
