That’s what these ‘debates’ are really about: framing old fashioned oppression as some kind of high-brow concern for women’s happiness.

You know what makes us happy? Bank accounts. Voting rights. The ability to leave a bad marriage and not have a miscarriage kill us.

You also don't HAVE to post it online??? Like that's not a prerequisite for making art.
I mean, things are tough all over. If rude criticism stops you from making art, you should probably not be making art.

we already had access to every library in the world. it was called jstor and you made nerds hang themselves for accessing it without paying
Jesus fucking Christ. No, LLM won’t help you learn more. Why? Because when you read a summary (EVEN IF it’s correct, which is not a given) you are missing out on the process which is arguably more important than the result 🧵

"We here at Bank of America remember a time when a woman couldn't get a credit card without her husband's approval. Wouldn't that be fun again?"
"Has feminism failed women brought to you by bank of america" is my MKULTRA sleeper agent activation phrase

this is culturally a vital work of modern art
Bought this book for my two mates’ babies for Christmas and I’m dying.

My point here is really, you never know where you’re going to find inspiration or stumble onto art that sparks your interest. You need to look broadly and deeply around the world. Typing something you want into an AI tool is simply robbing yourself of the journey and the opportunity for discovery.
Speaking of (not) using AI to research: my partner and I are with their family for the holidays and looking through some of their childhood books we stumbled upon this TREASURE TROVE of inspiration. I have literally never seen Ivan Bilibin’s illustration before and it’s VRRY exciting.

Guess I'll post this again

Gender affirming care for trans people is safe, effective, and has a lower regret rate (4%) than almost any major medical procedure. It saves lives. These are facts. The right's talking-points are recycled "they are coming for your children!" scare tactics well over fifty years old at this point.
New research finds trans teens have high satisfaction with gender care
The survey published in JAMA Pediatrics showed that trans teens taking puberty blockers or hormones had very low rates of regret.

once again, thinking about this. I do not know how much more collective grief and fear and death you need to see from us before it moves you to action. call your reps. okay, you don't wanna call for xyz reasons; understand that your next moves will be less effective but still, MAKE THEM.
if you're a U.S. voter and you claim to want more for trans folks than just visibility, you can dedicate 2 to 8 minutes to us a week.

And here it is. As Erin says, blatantly criminal and unconstitutional, and I would guess we'll see lawsuits from a number of states almost immediately, but...it's here.

Fucking cruel people who want children dead. That's what they all are.
1. The federal government has just attempted to enact a national trans youth care ban.

A new HHS rule would shutter most gender-affirming care for trans youth nationwide.

It violates multiple laws and the constitution, and will likely go into effect in a few months.

Our latest story here:

The U.S. Health Department proposed rules that would effectively ban gender-affirming care for minors, building on Trump administration restrictions.
Trump administration moves to cut off transgender care for children
U.S. officials are proposing new restrictions that would effective ban gender-affirming care for minors.

In other news, George Romero's Land Of The Dead (2005) where a rich guy offers refuge from the apocalypse in his gold skyscraper as long as you have lots of money only to discover that the underclass can't be distracted by fireworks displays anymore & they're learning how to fight back, is very NOW.

I had to watch Alabama's ban on gender affirming care for minors go into effect. It impacted multiple people in my life. It is cruel beyond words.

Pick up the phone. Call all of your reps. Don't tell me it won't matter--I call Tommy Tuberville. EVERY FUCKIN' TIME. I won't gift them silence on this.
This is possibly the most significant attack on trans rights in this country yet, and I can count the number of posts on my timeline about this on my hands.

If you're trying to dismiss this thinking "It'll die in the senate," DON'T! Sound the alarms now!

Step 1: call those numbers, or find your rep www.congress.gov/members/find... .
step 2. call each office phone number
step 3. say the words Bart!
step 4. you're done! easy!

take the minute to do it now and if it's after hours, leave a message!
then, do it right after you have breakfast tomorrow!

Every trans person--including every trans child--deserves the chance to be fully themselves. I'm so sick of seeing trans folks harmed repeatedly and unrelentingly, against all reason and scientific precedent. To my trans friends--I'm so sorry the world keeps trying to dim your light.

Google already treats all Native American tribes as interchangeable, and AI is *not* going to do it better!
Follow-up: re using AI to source reference art, that is a skill as well. @izsisu.bsky.social is exceptionally good at it. She looks up clothing references that are specific to historical and cultural touchstones we want for our products. AI would butcher this!

Again I say: how fucking interesting that remote work technology is bad and not worth adopting despite all research pointing to productivity gains, but genAI which offers NOTHING is so important to adopt and force on people who have no use for it despite all the horrible things genAI does

ID LAWS FALL! You all are doing amazing! This is why you call your reps and make your voice heard, why you support groups fighting for free speech.

Keep this up and we can tear the rest down!
#SaveSpeech

Netchoice won their legal battle against Age verification in louisiana! This follows similar rulings in AK and OH!

This is huge!

These laws can be stopped, they can be overturned. Do not give in to dooming! Keep calling your reps and support orgs that fight these laws in court!

KOSA has been defeated several times already and they keep trying over and over until the one time it goes through, at which point it becomes everyone's problem. It will be an unmitigated disaster if this passes and they say, well, sorry, now it's the law. Make sure your creature votes No on this.
Hey romancelandia and fandom peeps! If you live in the U.S. right now you should know that KOSA (along with a slew of censorship bills) are advancing through congress right now. If you care about spicy books and/or fanfiction you should contact your reps right now and tell them to vote NO on KOSA!

I cannot stress enough that most ppl don't ever even think about calling their reps. I talk to ppl in my fam about it and they go "Huh? What?". But your reps work for YOU. They need to know what you actually care about. When we call in big numbers it ALERTS them, cuz they rarely hear from us.
