I haven't seen the dunks but I will say that LOCAL CONDITIONS have to determine TACTICS. Folks, whistles are just a tactic and tactics vary according to context. Why waste time on this? If you've organized for 10 minutes, you know this is true. Keep it moving.
People are dunking on the posts from rapid response groups in the DC area about why they don’t use whistles

But those groups are making these kinds of decisions after talking with a whole bunch of people in the targeted communities. They’re not doing it arbitrarily

HUGE NEWS: the immigrant protections bill package has passed floor votes in both houses and is heading to the Governor’s desk!

We urge @govmurphy.bsky.social to pass these bills *as written* to better protect the constitutional rights of all New Jerseyans and make our state stronger and safer.

Go to bystander training, get to know your mutual aid groups, and make your go bags.
They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time.

Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief.

Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time.

Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

I want us to stay focused on the grief of this terrible moment, but when Black people tell you not to touch something, that is not a challenge. Some things are ours for a reason. We can remember Renee Good as the person she was and the circumstances of her murder without co-opting Black suffering.
“Say her name” is not about allyship. It’s a term crafted for people who are the focus of violence that deliberately erases us. It’s not for her, and it wouldn’t be for her, even if she were Heather Heyer, who didn’t get it when she died for civil rights. Can you understand that?

👇 No amount of training or policy change or technology or oversight will stop violence that is inherent to policing. If anything, attempts to reform them end up pouring even more money into them, as many people, including our co-founders, have long talked about. We have to take that money away.
The focus on training misses the mark. Yes, many federal agents are sloppy and unprepared, but years of organizing against police violence have taught me that more training doesn't stop violence. It just makes the death-making more respectable (sometimes) and more expensive.

A local rapid response group I work with is desperately trying to raise $5K tonight to get immediate legal representation for a group member who is facing deportation. It is crucial that these funds be raised by tomorrow. These are organizers I trust.
