Why would we continue to fund an agency that is literally attacking the 4th Amendment? Not disagreeing with the edges or over a specific point but the entire 4th Amendment
Blumenthal: "Americans should be terrified that this secret ICE policy authorizes agents to break down doors and ransack through their homes, arresting or detaining people without a judicial warrant"

2026: the year so bad that even the Third Amendment is suddenly relevant

I’ve seen little evidence that people have an attachment to ICE and it’s not a tough case to make that we can replace it with an entirely different design for immigration enforcement. It’s a corruptted agency
I’m not saying Dems should focus on ICE exclusively. Politicians can and should talk about multiple things.

Nor am I demanding specific wording, such as “abolish.”

Just stop approaching the topic with fear, as if 2024 is the fixed and true public opinion, and nothing that happened since matters.

But if we say ICE’s awful actions in Minnesota and elsewhere show that the agency is beyond reform and needs to be scrapped, with lawbreakers held accountable, the public will hear “all crime is now allowed and there will no longer be borders or customs checks”?

Why would they? Those are different.

The stance from some Democratic leaders, strategists, consultants, and messaging experts is that they are incapable of getting the public to distinguish ICE from the general concept of law enforcement, despite ICE crimes.

It’s weak, self-indicting stuff. If that’s too hard for you, why do this job?
I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.
Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.

I must add: Nearly every time there is video when ICE claims someone “rammed” them, it’s a damned lie. They drive like maniacs, run red lights, and whack into whoever else dares to be out in the public roads. Then they break car windows, drag people out, & arrest them for no reason.
SEEING IS BELIEVING

DHS claims the car being chased rammed the ICE vehicle. The video shows the opposite.

📌 A father and son, a US citizen, are chased. The teen is beaten and seriously injured. The father is deported.

DHS lied. The video tells the truth. Excellent reporting by Antonia Hylton.

The DHS explanation for today's Mueller Park gas attack is that someone spit on an agent at the gas station. The park is blocks away from the gas station. And somehow the most photographed people in the city have no visual evidence of the instigation.
