I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

I maintain that the obvious explanation for what is happening worldwide right now is that, thanks to media fragmentation, almost every politically informed person exists within a community of ENDLESS INDULGENCE, where you are actively encouraged to embrace cathartic narratives as unimpeachably true.

Judge Mark Wolf resigns from the District Court of Massachusetts and writes why in a powerful piece in the Atlantic.

One thing he doesn’t mention in his list of reasons but I’m sure is a factor:

Erez Reuveni was one of his law clerks.

Really great interview, should be watched. The known benefits for bike lanes on main streets are being espoused by those retailers who work on those streets. Excellent.
WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Annex businesses tell Ford to back off Bloor bike lanes
Stores in the Annex say the Bloor bike lanes have been a big boost to business. As Michelle Mackey reports, the neighborhood's BIA wants the province to back off its new bill that could see the lanes ...

This is the correct explanation of what happened tonight👇
KBJ threaded the needle thanks to CA1’s unfinished business.

-if she denied the admin stay, the full SCOTUS woulda stepped in to override her.
-if she immediately referred the case to the full Court, they coulda dragged feet.
-instead she boxed them in to act quickly once she does refer the case.

Folks looks at you like you're crazy when you say we're in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, & then it's Friday night:
GOP SEN. JOHN KENNEDY: It may be 2026 when we'll come out of the shutdown.

REPORTERS: 😳

KENNEDY: I'm not kidding, you guys. I mean, you see what I see. Okay? This shutdown is going to last a long time. What's going to get us out of it?

The first ideologically principled pro-corruption government in history?
It's not even strictly partisan, Democrats who suck up to him can get in on it too (Blagojevich did, good chance Menendez will). No need for any pretense a prosecution was flawed in some way. It's official policy that Trump just straight-up hates the idea corruption should be illegal and punished.

Good night, overall.
- Mamdani won by less than I hoped and expected
- spanberger and Sherrill by more than I expected and hoped
- prob 50 by *way* more than I expected and hoped. Takeaway, Dems should be more procedurally aggressive
- prop Q in Austin failing is a massive disappointment

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist
the other thing about this is that there is no reason to pit these candidates against each other? each are good fits for their respective electorates and each shows the value of vigorous campaigns focused on the stated material problems of voters.

Didn’t know there were ice ads because I don’t get ads, but sympathetic with these efforts — what are the pros and cons of the various alternatives to Spotify? Already pay for YouTube Music too and uh that’s not the thing I’m switching to
FYI if you have a Spotify membership, Indivisible is asking people to cancel until they stop running ICE recruitment ads. Instructions on how to do it here: www.youtube.com/shorts/TKp7c...

How do you say this with a straight face when your name is cuomo? Your ancestors showed up homeless and destitute to New York at most 150 years ago (probably less), to a country my family had functionally stolen ~250 years prior to that
