Israel will absolutely get closer to Russia as the US becomes slightly less supportive, it's just not a wonderful deal for Israel because Russia sucks, but, well, ok

You still see people doing “economic anxiety” arguments when we’ve long since figured out the Trump base is wealthy whites without degrees.
"The Volk can never fail, it can only be failed" seems to be the operating principle of American political punditry for some godforsaken reason

Yep
These aren't the options. 🇺🇸 isn't 🇹🇷 (or 🇬🇷 or 🇦🇷) & we owe 70% of it to ourselves:

The options:

1. Debt keeps 📈. 🇯🇵 is at 250+% & 🥱
2. The Fed monetizes it

Yes, we'd have higher inflation &/or borrowing costs. But that's all politics & tradeoffs, not disaster scenarios:

So, of these four options, we have:
1. Economic collapse
2. financial engineering (that probably won’t work, and even if it does still wouldn’t be great)
3. Eliminate at least part of the American welfare state
4. Increase the average families taxes by $77 every two weeks ($5.50 a day).

hard choice

Respectfully, the Republican Party controls the House of Representatives and the Senate, and also has a supermajority of Justices on the US Supreme Court
Good afternoon to Juan Linz, who was right about presidentialism & wrong that America's "uniquely diffuse" political parties would make us an exception to the rule. In the end, defeating fascism still requires people who swore oaths to do their damn jobs, including those in the president's own party

Continued electrification and the conversion of downtowns into pedestrian-transit-robotaxi zones are two trends that I think will get more widespread over the next decade

We built a society where millions of Americans live like kings and they’ve started acting like it (dumbasses obsessed with petty status squabbles)

Right, like, I visit Florida and Tennessee to see family and dear friends. And I’ve considered/might have to move there for those reasons. Wouldn’t otherwise!

Deciding what vision the Democrats will try next will be the core question of the 2028 primary.

In the meantime, while Trump is not done attacking, his attack has 'culminated' - run out of steam.

The 2026 midterms will be the field of the counter-attack.

Periodic reminder that most right wing propaganda (ex-real cult crazy like Qanon) takes a real thing that people really don't like, and DARVOs it or otherwise screws with context or proportion. Part of the propaganda value is to get you, well-meaning liberal, to defend the bad thing and look insane.
